The unnamed fan claims to have wandered into the stadium and taken photographs of the visitors' dressing room and Bluebirds owner Vincent Tan
A suspected security breach saw a brazen fan gate-crash the Manchester City dressing room ahead of Cardiff City’s remarkable 3-2 win on Sunday, it has emerged.
The unnamed fan is said to have walked around the bowels of the Cardiff City Stadium unopposed wearing a pair of slippers he had driven in and, confusingly, a Luton Town tracksuit.
The fan, who was visiting Cardiff to see family, told the Sun newspaper he had gone to the KFC restaurant in the Capital Retail Park on Leckwith Road on Sunday afternoon.
He claims he then wandered into the stadium with a member of staff holding a door open for him.
While inside, he is said to have sat in the home dugout where he took camera phone pictures of Bluebirds benefactor Vincent Tan and of his own beslippered feet.
He then entered a media interview area where he recorded a first-person mock TV interview before stumbling into the away dressing room.
There, he took pictures of the kits laid out on benches and players’ boots and the shirt of City’s Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho.
Eventually he was asked by a coach what he was up to – replying he was a player on trial and was wearing slippers because he had a toe injury.
He said: “Really I was wearing them because I had a long drive and they are comfy.”
The father-of-two left ahead of the game and, reflecting on the frolic, said: “I couldn’t believe no-one stopped me.”
Cardiff City Football Club and the Premier League have been contacted for a comment but have so far not responded.
Sunday’s match was Cardiff’s debut at home in the Premier League and their first top flight game in the capital for more than 50 years.
