Campbell for player of the month.

Tue Aug 27, 2013 11:57 pm

I thought I'd check the odds yesterday morning and he was 250/1. Since then he's got player of the week and the odds have dropped to 33/1, but as some of the favourites have finished playing for this month, i.e. RVP, as Man U don't play next until September, I still think the odds are good. If Campbell scores against Everton he'll walk it.

Benteke?

I'd say Mignolet, Benteke or that number 8 at Spurs for me.

Daniel Sturridge is another who is a better candidate. Scored the winner in both Liverpools games so far.

Yes, but our game was so much more high profile because we were massive underdogs. I agree a MOTM against Everton and it is Campbell's.

It doesn't matter, its player of the month not shock of the month. Campbell was non existent at West Ham. Daniel Sturridge has won both games for Liverpool, Soldado scored the winner in both Spurs games and benteke was excellent and scored in both games for Villa.

Hes currently 11th in the betting at 33-1 and rightly so. Hes had one decent game.

Yeah, Campbell doesn't have a chance to winning player of the month. Kimbo has more chance! Or Medel!

Soldado's not going to get it only for scoring 2 penalties!

He may well do, he won them both games. If he wins spurs their next game aswell he has a clean sweep. Both campbells goals were closer range than a penalty.

Anybody an score a penalty, if his all round game wasn't better than other players who scored goals as well, he won't win it!

I wasn't putting Campbell forward for the honour either, but Sturridge is the stand out candidate atm, if you were purely looking at goal scorers!

You said it's not shock of the month.. Well it's not win of the month either.

It's about the best performances throughout the month.

If Campbell continues to shine, he could get it. But to start saying this on the back of one good performance is a little too early for me.

Exactly and Soldados oerformance has won the game twice for Spurs. Its not a goal of the month competition barry, its decided on whos made the biggest contribution to their team. Two 1-0 wins and scoring both is a pretty big contribution.

It's not a winning goal of the month either.

Going on season so far, neither would get it.

Yes not like Campbell didnt win the game on sunday for us  As the OP said if he does well against Everton then he could certainly be within a shout. I doubt he'll get it but its not as far off as your suggesting

Nope its player of the month, based on who has made the greatest contributtion to the team. Hes scored in both 1-0 wins and contributed 100% of their points.

Yes, 2 penalties, which anyone can score!

You'd have given the Player of the Season award to Rory Delap a couple of seasons ago, based on his assists for Stoke City's goals!

A players contribution is based on more than pure goals.. Surely you know that.

Or it would be called the most goals of the month... :old:

And often the one with most goals gets the award as thats one of the biggest contributions you can make :thumbright:

You forget Barry that he knows more about football than any other pundit because he's being watching the game a long time

I dont know any pundit personally enough to know if that is the case. However id certainly back mine over anyone of the buffoons the tv stations wheel out. Jamie Redknapp thinks we have a chance of Top 4 and lawrenson has tipped us to go down every year

I find it amazing football fans who have watched the game for decades assume someone knows better because they are n the telly

He's 25/1 now and the three favourites, Benteke, RVP and Sturridge have no more games this month, so a good performance coupled with player of the week fresh in the minds of those that decide could be enough. Anyway I was happy to take a chance at 250/1.
