What About Our Consultation? (Everton Crest Related)

Tue Aug 27, 2013 4:42 pm

Everton has launched its consultation to give supporters the chance to help shape the new official crest.

From today (Tuesday, August 27), Evertonians can complete an online questionnaire to provide their thoughts on how they want the new crest to look and also apply to join one of a series of focus groups taking place at Goodison Park.

Plans for how the next crest will be designed and selected were announced last week with the extensive consultation process allowing every supporter the chance to have their say.

Supporters will also be able to select the final design that will be used from the 2014/15 season onwards through an online vote. Click here to complete the survey now.

It’s the first time that Evertonians have had the chance to play a fundamental role in the development of the next piece of Everton history and showcases the Club’s commitment to embracing feedback from its fanbase.

Director of Communications Alan Myers, alongside the Club’s Senior Executive Team, will oversee the entire process with key independent support from Liverpool-based agency Kenyon Fraser.

He said: “I know the fans have been awaiting details of the process to choose the new crest and from listening to them it is clear that they have many ideas on what they want. We will consult with all Evertonians and the crest will be the fans’ choice.

“The process allows fans to tell us what they want in their new crest so that a number of options can be created and they can select the best one.

“The 2014/15 crest will be the people’s crest, make no mistake about that. All I ask is that the fans trust me, as an Evertonian, to deliver it to them. Every single supporter may not get exactly what they want but they will have the chance to give their input and shape the crest. We will do this together because ‘We are Everton’,” he added.

There are various ways that supporters can get involved in helping to shape the new crest design. They are:

Online – Supporters can complete a questionnaire at evertonfc.com/crest to provide their feedback on how they want the new crest to look and the importance of the individual elements from previous crests. Click here to take the survey. There will also be an option for fans to upload their own designs or sketches. Click here for the crest upload page.
Focus groups - A series of focus groups will be set up with representative supporter groups such as Supporters’ Clubs, Shareholders, the Fans’ Forum, the new Junior Fans’ Forum, the Everton Heritage Society and the Everton Former Players’ Foundation. Supporters can also register an interest to join a focus group about the new crest by clicking here.
Evertonians will have the chance to submit feedback until Sunday 15 September. Independent of the Club, Kenyon Fraser will collate all the suggestions, ideas and feedback from supporters. They will review, interpret and then create design options for the fanbase to vote on.

Supporters will then have the power to make the final decision when the newly designed crests are presented alongside a detailed explanation of how each one has been developed.

Every Evertonian with a registered customer number, based on ticket purchasing or membership - an estimated 300,000 fans - will be asked to select their favourite design at evertonfc.com/crest.

The results of the vote will be revealed on Thursday 3 October and the new Club crest, shaped and chosen by Evertonians, will appear on all media, buildings, merchandise and, of course, the famous Royal Blue jersey from the 2014/15 season.

In the Club’s 135-year history there have been 10 versions of the official Everton crest. A decision was taken to develop a new version of the crest after the previous one was often misrepresented and suffered regularly from the omission of key elements and the misuse of Club colours.

In an ever-changing multimedia environment, the challenge of tackling these issues has increased. On 3D and HD television, on websites and on mobile devices, the crest was badly reproduced and, to many fans, often appeared cluttered and outdated.

Why can I never see full consultation ever being offered to our fans? - Oh, I forgot, we got to choose our shorts

I really think we're now stuck with the 'Beer Mat'

There was a survey carried out last season, where the results were due to be discussed and implemented with a group of fans. Funny enough, this never happened and he results or responses to the survey were never revealed.

There was a statement released last season saying that the badge will remain for this season. I do believe that means the current badge will remain for the foreseeable future - such a shame.

I'd like to know who this group of fans consisted of tbh?

I did the survey. I'm pretty sure there were references at the time for "next seasons" badge.

Yesterday I sent a tweet to the club, Steve Borley and Barrie Mac regarding it, and to my surprise - No reply.

I'll take this no-contact as a sign that the beer-mat won't be changing!!!

I knew that announcement was already made. But after seeing dugout seats, stadium expansion designs all with the current crest on - it seems that it will now be permanent.

I guarantee it will remain for next season, and the season after that etc
