Celtic's hopes of landing Icelandic international Alfred Finnbogason have been set back with the news that Cardiff City are eyeing the Heerenveen striker after the Hoops failed to match the Dutch club's €5 million asking price for the 24-year-old.
Heerenveen rejected an offer of €4.5m from German side Augsburg and hope to raise the fee by having as many clubs as possible chase Finnbogason's signature.
Celtic retain other options and Teemu Pukki, the Schalke striker, tops their list. He could be on his way to Parkhead the Bundesliga side's Champions League play-off against PAOK Salonika tonight.
Celtic are also pursuing other targets, including another striker, a midfielder and cover for left-back.
