Marketing - or rather the lack of it!!

Mon Aug 26, 2013 8:33 pm

Why are the images on the front of the club shop still bearing the Football League logo - we are Premier League!!
Why do I walk into a sports shop in Barry on Saturday to see several Premier League Club kits on sale but not our's. Even Newcastle's was on sale who are also Puma.
I'm no marketing expert but we are still 4th division in this area - who is in charge of marketing and sales?
A lot of the stuff in the shop is rubbish - we need to pull our socks up here I feel.
(I do have a pic of the shop front but can't seem to upload it - can anyone tell me how - cheers)

I asked the jjb shop in merthyr that. He said that the club wont allow them to buy any of the City shirts. Club wont allow it for whatever reason. As for the Football League they have had to do a lot of changing of the stadium due to the Premiership Regulations. Im sure that they will get round to it eventually. :ayatollah:

Just seems a bit odd - thought we would be maximising exposure!

We have come on light years since the 4th division. You're being a bit dramatic there. Remember that portacabin we had for a club shop?

I'm sure the Prem badges will be there soon enough. Have you not seen the new screens and advertising boards inside the ground then?

Do you mean the boards that almost, but don't quite, go all the way around!!

Indeed I have - we are two games in to the season - to me it just smacks of amateurism - I do remember the portacabin - I still strongly believe we could be doing a whole lot better on the marketing front - just my opinion.

Every other club had launched their home and away kits - all you can buy is the home one!!

We are several laps behind I'm afraid.

Several laps behind who?

You just said we were division 4 standard. Just releasing the one shirt is obviously a marketing strategy in itself.

No offence but are you from the CCMB school of marketing that so infested both messageboards with bollocks a couple of years ago?

Cardiff City have moved so far in the last few years that a lot of our supporters have been left behind, sad but true, a cursory glance at CCMB shows that. Same old left wing retards, with the same rhetoric, day after day after day. Times have changed since 1954.

Club with 22,000 season ticket holders, 5k as gold members and a massive waiting list for new season ticket holders. 27,000 at the game yesterday with two brilliant massive screens and advertising boards around the stadium. You're f*cking crying about everything. The club has come over leaps and bounds. We don't sell to JJB I guess because it's not maximizing profit is it? Sell them in the clubshop/online, I guess VT has the shirt sold over in Malaysia as well etc.

You're having a go at the club yet Blackpool had to ask for nine away games in complete succession or something I think because their stadium wasn't up to scratch? Turf Moor etc and all the other grounds, not on a patch on the CCS. Grow up

To be fair to Paso I think he has a point re merchandise.

Yes the club has made massive strides in terms of ticket sales, the ground etc but not merchandise. I get back to Cardiff once or twice a year and the quality is crap on a lot of things and some things in there are pretty average

I reckon i bought more stuff from the infamous Portakabin, and now with 27,000+ supporters the shop and whats inside it, should be a lot better and with a lot more choice

Would also love to know the sales figures this year versus 2012 based on an increasing selection of red goods?
