Would be a great signing but why another striker?

Interesting if this is true and we do sign him. Seeing as we tend to play one upfront, another striker must surely mean the likes of Velikonja, Rudy and Mason will be gone. I can see Mason and Rudy being loaned out with Velikonja being sold. Thought we were looking for another winger though?

I think we are looking for a winger too. If this guy joins we can say bye bye to Velikonja/Rudy.

Just noticed his number is 11 for Herenveen, could that be why Malky left the 11 shirt vacant?
Mon Aug 26, 2013 5:56 pm
Maybe coincidence but we have the number 11 vacant, Finnbogason was number 11 at Heereveen

Because we need one
Maynard has done nothing in the Premier League yet, despite being with West Ham (1 PL appearance 0 goals)
Cornelious yet to prove he can do it in the Premier League but good prospect
Gestede not exactly Mr Super Striker
Veljonka done it in the development side but yet to do it in the first team, will he ever?
Smith is he a striker or a winger? is he past his best I think so
Bellamy is he a striker or a winger? how many goals will he get? he is definately past his best unfortunately
That leaves us with one main striker with any Premier League experience - Campbell 95 PL appearances 15 goals, a goal in just over every 6 games, not exactly prolific.

Serpico on ccmb linked this guy a while ago, and reconfirmed again this week.
Apparently we cooled our interest initially because he lacked pace.......but his finishing is something else.
He scored twice against Ajax this week. (all info from that thread on ccmb so not claiming I'm the info guy here)

6 goals in 4 apps this season as well if I'm not mistaken.
His agent is unreachable but the Icelandic and Dutch press are going all for this. (Serpico on CCMB)

Rudy and Velikonja were bought for the future, if they do leave, it'll be on a loan basis

Fella I sit next to in work is a Celtic fan and they've been chasing Finbogasson (sp?) for a while. He's been raving about him.

But I take your point, Campnell is great, but it seems Malky has doubts over Cornelius, unless he is just protecting him and giving him time to settle into a new country and culture like he did with KimBo.....

I've heard that Nicky Maynard is on his way to Nottm Forest, not sure if its a loan or permanent transfer. But if we sign Finnbogason, I would assume Maynard will be gone by the weekend.

Newly promoted Cardiff City are set to further bolster their ranks with the signing of Iceland hitman Alfred Finnbogason, according to sources in Holland.
Finnbogason has been nothing short of a revelation since joining Heerenveen from Lokeren last summer, striking 30 times in just 37 Eredivisie outings.
Cardiff have already approached Heerenveen and their sporting director Gaston Sporre hinted that his side are open to selling the forward, 24, to the Welsh team.
He told Dutch newspaper AD: "There are offers that you cannot throw in the bin."
Heerenveen are reported to have granted Finnbogason permission to discuss terms with Cardiff and a deal could be completed before the end of the week.
