Maybe if the other places didn't take the piss and charge over £5 a pint they'd get more trade.

I'd rather pay for quality drink and surroundings rather than drink which is very close to its sell by date and have the local down and outs sitting next to you. Whetherspoons is the devil in my eyes

Personally I'm glad spoons has moved into the area, it might give the other places a reality check with their prices.

So everyone that drinks in Weatherspoons is a chav?

I personally love Weatherspoons on a night out, cheap drink (2 Desperados for £5, which are lovely) good music, and woman. What more do you want. :ayatollah:

He has the point regarding Weatherspoons. I don't mind going to a Weatherspoons, but it saddens me to see so many old, traditional pubs having to close down simply because they cannot compete with Weatherspoons. I take the point if some pubs charged the same price as a Weatherspoons, they wouldn't struggle, but it isn't that simple. Weatherspoons is a big chain, if you're in a random place and you have a choice out of a normal pub and a Weatherspoons, the average person would choose Weatherspoons. Give me an old country pub with character and atmosphere ahead of a Weatherspoons anytime!

the area needs more bars, but not ones like wetherspoons, why not have places with a bit of character and history etc? 2bh they are just places for pissheads, which kinds sums up the modern day.....

Had a good day down there Saturday, as for pub prices, both the Packet and the Waterguard are under £3 a pint.
