I was only just about to turn 6 when we played Leeds in 2002, so I have no recollection of it whatsoever. Would anyone say yesterday's result was better than beating Leeds?
I know the atmosphere was different, less intimidating, less violent etc.. But it was our first Premier League game at home against one of the best teams in the world. For me it's the best I've been to, just beating the Charlton game in April

I weren't at the Leeds game but for me, putting the Chopra Swansea game aside, that was the best home atmosphere I have experienced because of what the day was about, the team and talent we were playing.
It is up there with the emotion of that Chopra late winner but in the grand scheme of things yesterday was certainly a bigger result.
The whole ninety minutes yesterday was an electric atmosphere and the Chopra game was delirious for those last few minutes but the feelings were the same as yesterday for the minutes they lasted.
So I guess yesterday was better.

No because we're in the same league as man city.
The Leeds game was the biggest act of giant killing I have ever experienced. We were 2 divisions below them and they were top of the premier league!!!
Also they were in the champions league.
Leeds game was massive for me!! Still is.

I would have to totally agree with this

i was at the leeds game....it was by far one of the best days at a football match ever....they got to the semi final that year as well of the champions league, so to knock them out was awesome..

in terms of atmosphere yesterday was a close second to the Leeds game however I will say the Leeds atmosphere was more hostile and nasty and I would imagine scary if you were a Leeds fan or player. Leeds United have never been the same since. In terms of the result, I would say yesterday's is bigger, we have beaten one of the best teams in the world and certainly one of the most expensive and more than anything it should give our players the belief needed to push on from here. We need not fear anyone after that performance

next best thing for me. leeds was a massive upset, but this however is a massive result for us of quest for survival and the £££.

I didn't go to the Leeds game but what I loved about yesterday is as soon as Dzeko scored we upped our game, you can even here us on TV commentary, whilst Man City fans tried to sing the Dzeko chant we sang 'Der Der Der Der City'(Carnival De Paris)
Love that

Looked better on TV, Man City are champions elect too so it's a massive upset.

I was at both games & for me yesterday's was the better all round atmosphere & singing although the Leeds game would have definatley been more hostile for the Leeds players.
As said previously, what impressed me was the way we got behind the team straight after Man City scored the opener. That must have lifted the team no end.
Can we keep it up for the Everton game?

Truth is on this, it's hard for me to say. I watched both games on TV and leapt from my seat, shouting like a nutter when both our equalizing goals (Kav's and Gunnar's) went in, never mind the winning goals...
I think there's a difference between the two, in that against Leeds we were giantkillers on a much bigger scale - as has been said already, us beating them was effectlvely the start of their long descent into shite; they were CL semi finalists and PL leaders that season - then it all went Pete Tong for them.
The atmosphere from the TV sounds and images that day, came across as totally mental, though I bet it was one thing seeing it on TV and another thing altogether being there. I remember the "cheerio" chants when Alan Smith got his marching orders and the old "you're supposed to be in jail" chants at Lee Bowyer, as well as Sam H walking around and getting the crowd gee'd up.
Yesterday was a huge occasion as well; not a hostile crowd but intimidating and full of support from what I could see and hear. The difference being, although we were underdogs again, we were proving our right to be up among the big boys.
Equally huge, but in slightly different ways.

Good post but I don't think yesterday was intimidating.

A great atmosphere yesterday but Leeds was something else. There was an atmosphere at the Leeds game that i had never seen before nor since. It was nasty, ferocious and simply crazy all rolled into one. When Youngy scored the place went berserk.A Sunday afternoon cup game in January which seemed also to contribute to the occasion!
I recall Rio Ferdinand saying in an interview when he was playing for Man Utd and they were travelling to play a Champions League game away in Galatasaray, I think. Asked if he was concerned about the Turkish crowd they were likely to face, Ferdinand replied, concerned? No chance.dont forget I played for Leeds at Ninian Park! Superb.
A great day yesterday, but Leeds was better in my opinion.
