I ran a side called Dynamo Express, these were great times. Some of the lads I can remember who player for us were Ninners (Maynard), Gary Cox & i'm sure Gary Evans ( who I grew up with) played a few games for us. I played against Lennie & Dean a few times & played many games with Kevin Baynham 0n Saturday & Sundays. What is your name?

We did in both sports, but at St Illytds we were rugby mad, thats why i joined my mates from next door to play football.
Fitzalan and Llanrunmey were the 2 schools who were the schools to beat at the time - Llanrumney had Paul Bodin in their team at the time.

pembroke allan the iltts was a rugby school back then so the green bottles over the fence didn't have a footie side if my memory serves me correctly.
as for the original poster yes remember those names along with people like rees , cronick , stoney and cooper all great footballers too
rumney high had great battles with llanrumney and fitzhalan back then at footie . When it came to representating cardiff schools the selectors always favoured Fitzhalan pupils for some strange reason . Mel rees (RIP )who went on to play for the city was the best of the bunch from that side of the city . East cardiff seemed to be excluded out of the selectors eyes in favour of central and west cardiff players back then

used to play for llandaff and then onto strangetown for a number of years
played up until last year . gave it a swerve this season tho
loved it when we used to get to the silver bowl final most years with llandaff and usually winning it . we never wanted to get to the prem baseball league as we know we would get hammered which we did when we eventually went up -lol !
a great game back in the day in the summer months
Sat Aug 24, 2013 11:31 pm
Loved the game remember having a good few battles with you in the late 80s still see Phillip jay now and again great bowler also saw young sharky the other week to nod to
Sat Aug 24, 2013 11:40 pm
wow now there s a name that brings back memories - phil jay ,rayer , sharky and bruv , davies ,billy , sparksy , newman etc
a very decent county baseball side then but not prem quality .llanrumney and caerau were the bees knees back then
as well as the gower loved the battles with tavistock, bridgend street and penylan in the county division !

Remember Friday night 5 aside well.Went to Rumney High from 1976 to 1981.Our team was called All Stars. The name was taken from the TV programme where sports men of the day took part in various sporting events except that was called Super Stars.Always remember Kevin Keegan crashing his bike on the track.Could you imagine that happening today.it just wouldn't happen. Our team was.Wes Lewis,John Hardwicke,David Mcdonald,Andrew Mcdonald, and Michael Franklyn in goals. We did quite well but Maynards team were always good.We did beat them once mind. The 3players who always stand out in my memory in my year were Kevin Baynham,Gary Evans and Dean Robinson. You can put John Hardwicke in that group as well, but John was an all round sports man.

Rumney > St Illtyds
In Rumney we was just like Peter Whittingham, we did what we wanted. No rules from pretend bible wielding priests.
