Pathetic season ticket scenario

Wed Aug 21, 2013 7:48 pm

I've got 2 student season tickets available for the man city game but the ticket office won't let me sell them to my friends because they don't have a gold membership even though they are willing to pay the upgrade to adult ? Meaning they would rather there be two empty seats on match day than make a few quid :(

Im a big supporter of the ticket office and how hard they work but they've got this one wrong

People have paid for Gold Memberships though so they deserve the tickets.

But they won't get them because they won't let me upgrade them to adults for one game because they are not students , that's what I'm trying to say , so the seats will remain empty

Why don't your mates just use your tickets?

Re: Pathetic season ticket scenario

Wed Aug 21, 2013 7:59 pm

do you have to show your student card when you go in?

Hard luck, the fans who fork out the money for gold membership deserve it tho. Saying that I just gave my season ticket to my nephew for the man city and Everton games as I'm working.

get your mates to buy a gold membership for £40 they would of had to pay that anyway for a ticket and if your ever in the situation again you wont have problems upgrading then

It's a bit hard for 30/40 year olds trying to get in as students
They are proper city fans who can't make every game due to army commitments but re currently home and willing to pay full upgrades but are not allowed ? Even though if sold back to the club would be sold as adult tickets ? Doesn't make sense apart from financially to the club

The membership doesn't guarantee them a ticket either way so could be 40 quid down the drain , all I wanted to do was upgrade to full price adult for one game but instead of allowing it they would rather the seat go empty ?

Didn't the club say they couldn't upgrade as they weren't gold members though ,if they were gold members then they could upgrade onto your ticket if you ask them to:?:

The problem is if they get stopped it comes back on the person who's ticket it is who can't make the game . Looks like it will just be a try and get away with it rather than do it the proper way and pay the balance ? Stupid really IMO

The lights on the inside of the turnstiles light different colours for each different type of season ticket , if an older guy walks in and it flashes up student they will get stopped

Great idea but gold members won't be getting my seats when I can't make it cause I won't tell the club...last year I let my mate upgrade my seat.

So you are going to deny a fellow fan a seat at a game you can't make? Disgrace.

No wonder apparent sellouts have empty seats scattered everywhere these days.

Gold and Silver members pay for the privelige, if you can call it that, of getting first refusal on remaining match day tickets and any tickets that a season ticket holder decides to pass back to the club.

Your scenario all over the ground would make a mockery of the system and be unfair on those that paid for membership.

That's fine and is your prerogative but any tickets that need upgrading should go to Gold members. I assume your mate will be a gold member this season and you will have no problems.

You buy the ST, you can do what you want with it. If he does not want to sell it back to the club that's up to him.

I can't even find where you can pass it back to the club anyway so I won't bother if its too difficult.

Oh well its your loss as you would make credit on it. If you want to spite yourself because of the system then do so. The club really won't give a shit as the ticket has already been sold in the first instance.

Makes sense considering people have paid very good money to be gold members.

Well your mates should sell their seats for that match, so they get a discount on their season ticket

Ill be honest with you here and don't want any sympathy....but last season I used to give my ticket to my mate and my sons ticket would be upgraded to my mates brother who is now blind and have loved the city since the school yard, and it was a way of real city fans to attend a game now and again (the ones who cant afford it) so the club would earn a bit of cash and was happy to do so....but if they want to change the rules this year because Everyman and his dog want to see city play then I will take the extra legroom when my boy can't get to the game.

I've gone in on a child ticket a few times I don't think they really give a f**k mate.

I'm with you on this mate. My tickets will not go back to the club but will be given to friends or family. It's only the upgrading of tickets that's the issue so unless you are willing to take a chance the club get to KNOW when you have a ticket available.

My loss? Spite myself?

They'll go to friends and family who are at the right category as my tickets.

No loss, no spite you funny little bugger.

You are going to lose out on the credit though so it is your loss yes financially. Its simple maths mate. If you'd rather give your tickets away than earn credit to save yourself money then thats bonkers.

It's not that bonkers, I Have given my seat away to friend sand family if I can't make it and never taken a penny. If it means they may buy a ticket another time and get more involved with supporting the club then that's enough for me.
