Calling all fellow Bluebirds .... your help is needed!

Mon Aug 19, 2013 9:21 pm

A mate of mine and fellow Bluebird is after your views to assist him with his University Dissertation. I know he'd be grateful for any replies you can provide to all or some of the following questions:

1. Why do you attend matches live as opposed to on tv or online? What benefits do you experience?

2. Do you feel you lose your identity as a loyal/die hard fan when you don't attend games?

3. Do you feel you can influence the outcome of a match by actually being there? Through support/chanting etc.. how?

4. Do you feel the club has become more commercial to attract people to the stadium?

1. Whole different experience watching on tv to being there, no comparison. It's the unknown that makes you want to be there, and you your players need your support live at the game.

2. No don't lose identity.

3. Not me as an individual, but yes as part of the whole fan base I do.

4. Yes slightly more recently.

Feeling a part of the game. More sociable, an event to attend with friends. The pre-game experience, pubs, walking to the ground etc..it's basically a day out. Much better atmosphere.

2. Do you feel you lose your identity as a loyal/die hard fan when you don't attend games?

No, not at all, although there is a sense of missing out if there is a famous away game that you don't attend. If you stopped going altogether and only watched on TV then yes I think you'd lose a 'die hard' identity.

3. Do you feel you can influence the outcome of a match by actually being there? Through support/chanting etc.. how?

Yes, I think a very passionate home crowd can inspire the home team, and on occasion put off the away team. It's definitely a factor.

4. Do you feel the club has become more commercial to attract people to the stadium?

Yes. The rebrand was by far the most disgusting thing in football since MK Don's move. It is entirely commercial, deeply offensive to me as Cardiff City fan and it is designed to try and attract more fans. Long term though, it will only turn some fans away IMO.

:sleepy2:
Why don't you give it a rest, you alone are doing a great job of turning fans against bu.
why didn't you just answer the questions and leave your propaganda to one side for once.

1) I attend live because it gives me the sense of belonging you become not just a fan but part of a football family, you don't get that from tv.

2) Most loyal fans only miss games when there is no other option, you don't lose your identity.

3) One fan on his/here own can't make much difference but as part of a crowd you can lift you team.

4) Yes but it has to, with the way football is you have to adapt or die a slow death.
