Need For a Striker?

There seems a lot of debate over whether we need another striker

My opinion which isn t much is yes.

Last season we may have won the championship but we didn't have one player with more than 9 goals we wont get away with that in the Premiership.

There were a number of games where we didn t have many shots on goal and got away with the odd goal we wont get away with that in the premiership

Our present strikers.. Bellamy.campbell and Maynard all have injury history
Gestede and MASON ARE NOT UP TO PREMISERSHIP..
Cornelius IS AN UNKNOWN QUANTITY

I believe we need a proven striker at top level otherwise we will struggle

supplemented by a winger with pace and another strong midfielder player

definately need another one, and im sure we will get one in too.

Yes - I think Campbell, Cornelius plus one other will be enough. Odemwingie is tried and tested at this level - could be worth a shot. I'm sure there are some others out there too... For the moment Maynard is not good enough, perhaps if he gets game time in cups etc he can improve but he hasn't played enough to be good enough for the PL...

I thought maynard looked ok Saturday,considering he aint played much football over the last year

Yes but we don't need players who look ok - we need players who are going to be very very good as not scoring enough goals is of course the difference between the good and bad teams and chances are tight in this league. I'm not saying Maynard is a bad player but I don't think we can rely on him yet in PL - I would play him in all cups though and perhaps if he starts netting the goals then he can play.

In principal that is all fine.We have spent close on £30 million so how much more can we expect to spend on players?Proven goalscorers don't come cheap as well as other positions we need.Lets see how we do with Cornelius.I think the set up will be different to upton park.It was never gonna be easy game afterall

what about putting Bellamy up top..?

So he is but give Cornelius a chance 1st otherwise no point spending 7.5 million on him

what happens when Cornelius is out ..we got the same as last year then....which wasn t good enough for the championship let alone the premiership!
