I see Maiga (unchallenged) about to lay the ball of to Noble.
Noble who appears to have a head start over Medel.
And I see Turner,Caulker and Connolly all ball watching.
Meanwhile Kevin Nolan, on the edge of the area in between the RB and CB virtually unmarked.

Completely, agree. You can't ball watch in this league. Norwich got punished yesterday against Everton because Redmond was too busy ball watching and didnt pick up coleman and both Connelly and Caulker have done the same here

Somebody should of stuck to Nolan but if they come out towards Noble then they just leave a huge gap behind for someone to run into.

West ham are a good team. It was bound to be hard. Start accepting it or it will be a very long season.

Get used to the fact we are a going to get turned over 9 times out of ten otherwise you're gonna be pulling your hair out all season long.

As for the picture, the defence are not doing anything wrong. What's with this "ball watching" phrase? It's usually used to have a go at players that were doing NOTHIN OTHER than ball watching, not those who are marshalling a defensive line that is a hell of a lot bigger than one WHU player in the middle of the picture.

If we are going to man mark a player of the quality of Noble we are in for a tonne of shocks, there are much better players than him that could command man marking. The defence are spread well awaiting an attack.

The question is where are the midfield? If Medel is DM he should be sat forward of Caulker not coming in off the left wing a little too late and where at the others? Tracking back would have helped that situation no end. Where's Kim or Gunnarson?

I'd agree with what's been said so far, in the Connolly got done with the cross leading up to that first goal - sold a right dummy. Then for the second goal, Nolan was stood in loads of space because Turner was watching the ball...

He's hardly gonna come out and say our defending was shit. He knows that isn't good enough and I'd be surprised to see Connolly at right back again this season baring injuries. I think I'd want to see us play at home first where we attack the game and look for 3 points before judging. He must want another 1-2 new faces before the window closes as well, I'd be shocked if he doesn't.

and scored with two of them defending both goals was poor, Cole was allowed to turn and place the ball in the bottom corner & Nolan was left unmarked to pick his spot

That is the harsh reality of the premiership that if we make basic defensive errors by not marking properly we will get punished

Surely if Hudson was carrying a knock or a niggle, he wouldn't have been our only recognised defensive cover on the bench?
