For me, Malky got it wrong.

Sun Aug 18, 2013 3:51 pm

Bellamy, gunnarsson & comnolly shouldnt have started.

Noone, Mutch and Brayford (or even McNaughton) should have.

I would probably goes as far as saying Maynard should have started ahead of Campbell as well, just think for the West Ham game he might have been a better option with maybe having a point to prove.

I personally believe the younger more hungrier players in noone and mutch especially would have been more up for it, playing for a shirt, more determination and would have got forward more, and quicker as well. For me Bellamy could have been a better option as a second half substitute, and gunnarsson back up.

We need wingers on the flanks with flair and pace who's heads were in it for 90 minutes. We lacked in many places yesterday, but i think we've seen enough moaning now, just wanted to get my 10 cents in before we start looking forward to man city thrashing us next sunday! :-)

I agree he got a few things wrong regarding the selection, disappointed we didnt have a good go at them rather than just try and defend. Even malky said in his interview we restricted them to 3 shots on target, as if he was happy with the defence, what about going for it and scoring malks.

Campbell did everything he could. Worked his socks off. We could've had RVP up front and wouldn't have scored because the midfield didn't get the ball up front at all. Bellamy was shite. Gunnarsson isn't fully fit yet and Brayford was injured.

Bang on. I think Noone would've done well yesterday, A hell of a lot better than Bellamy at least. We severely lacked width, and Connolly was shite too. Where was Brayford?

Steve bruce said something interesting before todays game, about leaving the centre forward isolated and he doesn't like to do that, which is what i think we done yest with campbell.

3 mistakes for me

1- Connolly shouldn't be in the squad let alone the team

2- a rigid 4-5-1 doesn't work anymore in today's game and you have to be better tactically to get anywhere in the prem

3- we need to play with 2 up top Campbell can't play the lone roll just like miller couldn't , felt like we went back 2 years yesterday sadly

Still felt proud of the effort though hopefully that was a wake up call we needed and we can move on :ayatollah:

Then i do apologise as i thought i saw a post on here the other day saying malky had a fully fit squad.

Yeah he was completely isolated. We really could've done with Cornelius being fit because against a defence of West Ham's size he'd have done very well.

He did say that on Friday mate but after the game he said Cornelius and Brayford were unfit but should be fit for Man City. You could just tell Gunnar wasn't fully fit. Diame bossed him.

100% agree Merlin. Noone has more flair than Bellamy as well. I think Bellamy has truly turned into a Scouser now because he just comes across as someone who doesn't want to work.

Agree entirely with this, long season ahead but shouldn't write off most of our team from day one. it was more how we set up than who we set up

I felt Malky tried to out muscle WHU and you won't do that to a side run by Allardyce, it's the only tactic he has and his sides do it so well, should have gone man to man on Noble, Nolan and Cole stop the outlets stop them playing

It,s all to easy for fans to criticise after the event, it was our 1st game in the prem for gods sake, mistakes are going to be made that's life. Lets see what team we got when the transfer closes, things just might be different then :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

We seem to be the only team without tricky wingers

But there is time to sort that out

Incredible. Home and Away this season he should start Noone, without giving the bollock that Conway helps out defensively. :ayatollah:

Funny you should mention this. After watching the match again, I couldn't help but get the impression that CB39 was almost intentionally changing his pace to Kimbo's disadvantage. Hudson should have started, albeit, he's not first choice, but he organizes the defense tremendously. His aura is positive compared to that of CB39
