Was held up in the crowd yesterday, if the ones that put it up are against modern football, why go to the games. What do you think the premiership is

Do chuckle at banners like that, you're giving money to something you're against. Really silly banner and surprised it's allowed to be let in
Sun Aug 18, 2013 4:33 pm
Whoever done that should feel like a massive retard and hypocrite.

It's always kids who do it as well, who have only ever known modern football. The way I see it, if your against modern football support a local non league side not a modern football club. Don't attend modern football games in the league that is the epitome of modern football which you no doubt celebrated reaching and then say "Against Modern Football", you look like an idiot.

The banner shows more focus on the "KEEP CARDIFF BLUE" part if anything.

Why didn't they have a banner saying that then? It said "against modern football". The Premier League is modern football so it was very stupid to have a banner saying that.

Exactly, no defending the banner.

It says "against modern football" then "KEEP CARDIFF BLUE" in bold and in bigger font underneath. Therefore the banner shows more focus on the "KEEP CARDIFF BLUE" part.
But I agree, the "against modern football" bit is silly, the banner would look even better if they removed it.

f*cking pathetic
I love modern football !!!!

What makes it funny is that it's young lads holding up the banner when modern football is all they have known

Whilst they have paid £45 to go watch their side in the premier league

Its cringeworthy

I don't understand the Against Modern Football thing myself tbh.
If you don't like modern football then surely that includes modern prices, modern stadiums etc.
I think that those who hold the banners or knowingly stand behind the banner are misguided in their thoughts, by that I mean they believe they saying Against Modern Football because of the rebrand of the club.
I have stood for two photographs that I am aware of that have had banners held up with against modern football on them, had I been aware of the banners I would not have stood for the photo.
Sun Aug 18, 2013 9:52 pm
I don't personally subscribe to the against modern football thing, but people are being a bit harsh.
It is possible to be opposed to something, without out and out boycotting it.
They are football fans, so want to attend games, but are opposed to aspects of it.
It's not that confusing really.

They don't fully understand the concept 'Against Modern Football'. They can dislike a few things like the prices etc.
But if you turn up to games you are not Against Modern Football.. in fact you are full support of it by turning up. Includes people who have Sky Sports.

How can it be possible to be against modern football but openly support it? I agree with being against alot of what modern football represents, high spending fees, high wages, large amount of debt but those fans are also openly happy to watch a team in the league that most reprsents modern football hoping for the club to make key signings. I agree with what Carl said to be honest and had it spot on

If you was Against Modern Football you would turn up full stop, you can be against certain aspects of it like prices but you put your money towards it you are full support of it.

Sorry guys, I don't agree. It is possible to be against something while still watching a football game. If they said 'Against Football' while still going, then I agree that would make no sense.
There are aspects of the game that they oppose but they love the sport itself.

Against it while putting money towards it, that is supporting it basically.

That just complicates it more, your either against it or your not. Simple. Black or white no gray area's.

I understand what your saying kid and yes you can disagree with certain aspects of a topic but not the topic in its entirety.
But to stand at a Premier league ground watching 2 Premier league teams displaying a banner to suggest that you're against Modern Football is a tad bit misguided to say the least.
The Premiership is the origins/Home of Modern Football.

Life is all about Grey areas!
The fact is that they watch football, but oppose aspects of modern football.
By definition it's a grey area, hence the thread!
'Against Football' or 'We hate football' or 'Football is the last thing I'd like to do on a saturday afternoon' banners, while watching football, would be pretty ridiculous.
Against modern football is pretty self explanatory.
It's not like being opposed to big supermarkets, whereby you can shop elsewhere. If you love football, but don't like traits of the game, it's pretty tricky to buy a time machine and watch old football!
Anyway, City on MOTD2 now, then it's bed time!

It should be changed to "against certain aspects of modern football"

How would supporting a non league team mean you're not supporting modern football? Have non league teams been teleported back to the 1980's or something?
