Fraizer Campbell: Striker says " Cardiff will have to learn quickly "

Fraizer Campbell has acknowledged Cardiff City will have to 'learn quickly' after losing 2-0 to West Ham United in their first game in the Premier League.

Goals from Joe Cole and Kevin Nolan secured the points for West Ham as Cardiff rarely threatened to get back into the game at Upton Park.

Campbell is aware that last season's Championship winners will have to get used to teams in the top flight capitalising on Cardiff's mistakes over the coming months.

However, the striker believes there are positives to take ahead of Cardiff's next game at home to Manchester City on Sunday 25th August.

"The fans have waited for this moment for a long time, so it was a special day," Campbell told Sky Sports.

"Unfortunately we didn't get the result we set out to get. But it's one game into the season and we will go back to the drawing board, watch the game over and look to the next one.

"I think we need to learn quickly that it's an unforgiving league. We could have got away with one or two mistakes last season, but this season you will pay for them. We have to learn quickly, but hopefully we can turn that around.

"There are some positives, it's not all bad. We just have to cut out the silly mistakes. Some bad defending from us has led to two goals. We have to stay strong as a team and work hard during the week.

"It's one game into the season, we have got a lot more to go and I'm sure we have got enough."

Annis I know watching matc of the day doesn't give you the full picture but the two goals were poor defensively as we allowed both players to get a shot off without a challenge. We had the ball and lost it in midfield but we need to toughen up in defence.

Ok its our first game and we had one or two chances to score but in this league you have to put them away. We now have to get behind the boys on Sunday. It won't be easy but I'm sure the crowd will be a big factor.

Fraizer worked his socks off today. Just didn't get the service he needed.

Only watched om tv but completely outclassed The problems we seemed to have were known at the end of last season and STILL need to be sorted out We KNEW we were weak in defence but only brought in one player who played yesterday Also does Malky intend playing the same kind of style that he did last year ?I believe some of the problems we had yesterday SHOULD HAVE been sorted out BEFORE yesterdays gameAs you probably have guessed i am not a MALKY can do no wrong supporter. HE this year has to prove HIMSELF that he is GOOD enough to manage a Premiership club.I (and these are just my opinions) believe he did well last cpl years and was given the funds to go for promotion last year .Now this is a different scenario NOT blaming Malky for yesterdays result Just trying to express an opinionT

If your not blaming MM then who are you blaming for not sorting out our obvious (IYO) deficiencies?

Our away form started quite slowly last year and MM didn't really sort it out until after the Charlton debacle but that didn't stop us winning the league. We got done yesterday by a good Premiership team with a very experienced manager.

What MM is very good at is learning on his feet. He used adversity as motivation last season and will do so again. Yes we had problems on the pitch yesterday but match fitness, finishing and defending are things which can be improved on with time on the training pitch.

Either way I still we have it in us to do well.

One thing that we do need to learn from yesterday is that when you make substitutions, more so when it more than one player, that everyone understands thier responsibilities in the new formation. Yesterday that didn't happen in my opinion as WH scored within a minute of the substitutions.

After that and when we had reorganised we probably had our best spell in the game and certainly should have scored with the chance Maynard had. Losing Bellamy & Kim who both worked hard to support the team whilst defending was lost for a couple of minutes whilst the team reorganised with Gestede and Maynard.

Who once said it only takes a minute to score a goal.

Thought we past the ball around well at times , needed cornelius as a target man today , still need 1 or 2 defenders and a winger , Kim looked confident taking the ball until the final ball

West ham ain't a easy place to go.

We can take positives from the games :ayatollah:
