Right back

Why oh why are we playing a centre half as a right back in the Premiership, for gods sake he hardly played full back in the championship.Very confusing.

Confused me this has, Malky has said he thought Brayford was the best right back in the championship last year didnt he? so why give Connolly the number 2 shirt?

Super kev and brayford must of been still playing cards on the team coach and never made it  he was shocking tbh along with many others today but thats a new level for you, we could play the same hoofball crap int he championship away and get away with it in the prem we wont :ayatollah:

I quite like Connolly but at this level there is no way that he is a premiership full back.To STAY UP WE NEED BETTER.

Connolly played the same amount of games at RB as McNaughton did, and considering he's not a natural full-back he performed admirably and really showed another side to his game. Those goals and assists he scored and created came from a newly-disovered ability to get forward and make darting runs.

I don't think Brayford showed enough last season to warrant he deserved to be ahead of Connolly, so he deserved to start yesterday. He just had a bad game, but it was the first back in the Premier League in that position and he'll adapt I'm sure. He should be allowed a couple more games to prove his worth, 'cos he was one of our best players last season.

You serious? I've seen milk turn quicker than Connolly. Nowhere near prem standard, give Brayford his chance I think he will grab it with both hands and do a good job for us

I thought he would have startd Brayford. Connoly IMO is not a Prem quality Right back.

I have to admit I never seen the game i was returning back from Florida.

Connolly got away with it last season, no way will he do that this season. He is a centre half and a better one the Turner for the premier league as he is quicker and can pass (a bit). Super Kev is a better full back in this league as he won't get done for pace, he just can't pass. Not sure on brayford, I can't recall him playing against us.

It would have been wrong to hand Brayford the full backs shirt for the first game, Connolly deserved the chance to keep it.

Connolly did have a bit of a shocker but should make useful cover if need be, especially at CB.

I hope Super Kev in particular (the player, not the forum member - ;) - gets a chance too, having been here for a while.

Whilst I recognise that SuperKev's opportunities will be, rightly, limited this year I was surprised he didn't get a sniff on Saturday.

It's widely accepted that he can't pass but defensively I would argue he's our best full back. Against Zaha, Downing (in the Cup Final) and any number of "names" that have come up against him he has never been destroyed. He can make the odd run forward which puts the opposing winger and fullback on the back foot too.

In addition he and Taylor are two of the best full backs we've had for sweeping around the back of our CBs which is vital at this level.

He won't be a permanent fixture in the team because of his distribution but away from home and against teams who rely on wide delivery from wingers (West Ham, Stoke, etc.) I still think he has a role to play.

However, Malky knows his players best and he'll get more things right than he gets wrong this season, that's for sure !!

He wasn't up to much in the championship, switches off.
