Sat Aug 17, 2013 7:19 pm

I know next week will be a very tough test but i think this team can get a result against man city next week

(4-1-2-1-2)

Marshall

Brayford
Hudson
Caulker
Taylor

Medel

Bellamy
Noone/New winger?

Kim

Campbell
Cornelious

How would you line us up? :malky:

Park the bus and hope for a Leeds type atmosphere. We can do it.

Re: Team vs Man City

Sat Aug 17, 2013 8:56 pm

We need a new winger though as we have no pace

Re: Team vs Man City

Sat Aug 17, 2013 8:57 pm

Marshall
Brayford caulker turner Taylor
Gunnarson medel
Bellamy Kimbo Whitts
Campbell

That's how I think we will line up next week

Personally I think Bellamy and Whitts will never give us enough width. It probably has to be either Kim or Whitts with Bellamy and Conway or Noone but I don't think Malky will change things quickly.

Sticking with today's set up would probably produce better results with cornelias when fit as bigger guy instead of Campbell maybe better at holding the ball up and allowing a bit more time for Whitts and Bellamy to get further forward.

Marshall

Brayford
Caulker
macnaughton - he can keep the ball no hoofball - ie turner also hudson can be sketchy one mistake will = 1 goal sunday
Taylor

whittingham -
medel
gunnarson
mutch

Bellamy/kim - Am

Campbell

I would seriously look at swapping kim for mutch but feel mutch is more physical and we will be overrun in the midfield by man city, and defensive duties will be more important than attacking

Posted this on another thread earlier.

My team would be:-

Marshall
Brayford
Caulker
Turner / Hudson (not sure what to do here. Hudson is better in my opinion but can he and Caulker only play on the right side of CD?)
Taylor (although John did very well and will be pushing when he has more games under his belt)
RM (need someone here badly but I would give Conway a crack at home)
Medel (future City skipper. Only been involved a few days and directed everything as best he could yesterday and wanted the ball constantly. Not sure if he speaks English mind, so this may hamper my last quote)
Mutch (fully fit and driving forward will complement Medel's holding role)
Noone (in his natural left position, getting passed players and crossing early to allow the CF to attack the ball)
Campbell (looking very sharp and worked his arse off yesterday)
Cornelius (not seen a lot of him, but comes with a good rep and will be a good target to allow Campbell to run off him)

But then again, i could be way off the mark.

On a side note.
"He's here, He's there, he's every f*cking where Mr Moon, Mr Moon  "

That was great yesterday

There's only one Gary Medel........apparently not :ayatollah:

Re: Team vs Man City

Marshall

Taylor
Caulker
Hudson
Brayford

Medel

Harris
Whittingham
Noone

Cornelius
Maynard

4-1-3-2 and play on the counter - we have the flair of Noone, pace of Harris after good preseason and height of Cornelius for long balls up to bring others into play. Put Medel on man marking on Silva or someone and then have the other three sit tight and break when we get the chance.

Kim should be dropped. He was absolute rubbish vs West Ham and made terrible decisions. Whittingham should get the nod before him and we should give Harris a chance vs Man City to see what he can do in a game we'll probably lose instead of chancing him vs a team we have a stronger chance against. Give Noone a chance as well as he has flair and good on the break.

We were lacking real purpose and need some pace and direct play on the wings that can stretch the oppositions defence and create more space in the middle.

Kim is one of our most skilful and technically gifted players in my view. Dropping Harris right in the deep end would be ludicrous as well. I agree he was poor yesterday, but I think he was totally outmuscled by their midfield. He needs Medel/Gunnar/both to step up and offer him some protection so he can do his thing.

That said I agree we need pace on the Wings so Noone is a must :ayatollah:

Honestly, do you think we will beat Man City with the talent they possess? I'd rather risk Harris in a game we're likely to lose and see what the lad is really made of than risk him against a team like Norwich or Hull, teams we could beat and pick 3 vital points up against. As you say, Noone is a must as he is unpredictable and adds a different dimension to our play and he could win penalties which get us a point. We need something to get near their box at least.

If we go with Bellamy at left wing and then bring on Harris for 25 minutes in the second half to have a go that'd be fine but I was disappointed in Craig yesterday truth be told. Only Caulker, John considering how young, Medel and Campbell impressed.

I don't think we will win, being realistic. However, I would rather opt for a player who is good with the ball at his feet and retaining possession like Kim and Whitts, over a novice winger who will offer nothing considering we'll barely be seeing the ball. As for lesser teams, I say give Harris the nod as the likelihood is he'll get a chance to do what he's good at.

Craig's lost a lot of pace and that was hidden in the Championship as he was still a class above. At the top level it really shows, and I doubt he'll be beating as many fullbacks as, lets be honest, they're equally quick. I'd favour the Harris substitution to be fair. Teamwise I'd go:

Marshall

Taylor
Hudson
Caulker
Brayford

Medel

Noone
Whitts
Kim
Bellers

Campbell
