Very unlucky

Sat Aug 17, 2013 4:02 pm

We got beat by West Ham United, they're second in the Premier League in a Champions League spot, above Manchester United, Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City. Only club above them is Aston Villa.

We were just unlucky twice. Outplayed them most of the game. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Sorry we were not unlucky today we were not good enough and west ham dominated us first half. All in all a fair result to west ham. Second half we came out and played a lot better but couldn't create nothing. The damage was done 1st half we were just to wasteful and couldn't keep the ball. I did think we may pull one back but we didn't and they went on to score another.

No need to start panicking yet I'm sure things will come together for us.

Anyway on to man city

What game was u watching barnett if you think we was very unlucky, you create your own luck to win games and today with ZERO shots on target tells me there was nothing unlucky about it 2nd best for 95mins all over the park. 37games to go :ayatollah:

Thought we come into the 1st half towards the end as dominated early on 2nd half for 15 mins. The rest of the time we was 2nd best. Maynard should have scored. Our set pieces were terrible

I thought that after the nerves settled, we were more focused. Wingers & a defender are a must for the prem now & then hopefully with Cornelius back in the mix, he can pull off the end product that we will require. Plenty for Malky to take to the drawing board.

On a positive, it was a relief that Gary Didn't kill anyone today

Positives:
We got better on the ball in the first two thirds of the field.
Marshall is Premiership quality & made a world quality save.
Campbell was threatening without any decent service.
Gary is quality and will quickly adapt to the Premiership.
It's only game 1

Negatives
Full backs nowhere near good enough (sorry).
Too much hoofball
Final ball/service to forwards
Maynard's miss

Solution
Use Brayford + new LB. Return of Hudson? Another CB?
Quality wideman (Moreno?)
More attacking minded & goal scoring quality CM (sorry but Whitts has lost confidence - hope he gets it back but I'm not holding my breath). This will take the pressure off Bellamy & Kimbo & make us a more threatening unit.
Being greedy, another frontman

Keep the faith!

I thought their 2 goals was the result of poor defending on our part.Conelly should have stayed tight on the winger and forced a corner. The second goal was well taken to be fair but from our point of view again the cross should have been attacked.I thought Malky set the team up for a draw today but in the end we were undone by the type of defending that you could get away with in the championship. But we did play some neat football so as far as I'm concerned its onwards and up wards.

Yes super unlucky we was today, not, let's play well every game this season while scoring goals from ZERO shots on target maybe the stats lie and I need spec savers, I sure hope we dominate teams playing well this season but hay ho its ok if we create not a single shot on target, fans need to stay off the glue, goals win games  :ayatollah:

Conclusion on today...

Where the feck is Jeff?
Need width and pace.

We had neither today.

Connolly looked slow - definitely not a full back.
Bellers, Gunnar and Whitts offered very little.
Bellamy's understanding with those around him (especially Kimbo) was poor.

Turner should be fined for each time he simply lumps it. Just give possession away. Can't do this in this league.
Gunnar gets in the side for his long throws. If he can't use that weapon and throw, then he should be replaced by Mutch. Who's better with the ball at his feet.

Hopefully Cornelius will make Man City.
A long season awaits...
