Learning curve

Sat Aug 17, 2013 2:48 pm

First half done and dusted. From what I have seen we are not in the races and West Ham are having a field day thus far, however THIS IS IS NOT IMPORTANT. We need time to acclimatise to the pace of the new league we are in. Result not important today, lets hope for a better second half.

Season starts home to Everton.

Yep, few nerves but seem to be settling down. Give them a bit of time, but I think we need to take some points from this game. :ayatollah:

wouldn't be surprised we play better second half, nerves out the way now, time to kick on :ayatollah:

Re: Learning curve

Felt we finished the half quite well. However, Malky needs to address the full back situation, Connelly and John arent good enough

I think we knew this at the end of last season tbh but obviously not addressed no real cover for taylor as normal ( john is young and will learn in time) but whats the point in brayford or super kev if we are going to play a center half at right back he looks well out of his depth but always did even when he played in the prem before :ayatollah:

Bottom half teams most seasons, who we will have to get points off to stay up for sure :ayatollah:

West Ham had a great home record last season and are always going to be tough to go to.

Playing a typical city game and down by a very well taken goal. Connolly looking very suspect at LB and I wonder how long it will be before WHU really start testing him. However, it does not bode well specially when you look at the subs. Where is Cornelius and Brayson?

Sensible post. I believe it could take up to 10 games before we settle

Ian, I agree with you but it's our first game in the big time, always takes a few games to acclimatise to the pace. We have a lot of new faces that also need to gel, we need to invest badly in the full backs as well.

Jinks, 10 games would be too much I feel. We know now the quality we are up against.

It looks like you have invested badly everywhere already ;)

Who are you supporting today? Swans or Man yoo?

Re: Learning curve

the fact you are writing this game off as irrelevant means you don't understand this league at all.

you NEED more than a point per game to reach the magic 40. if you lose then it puts pressure on the next game, the next game is Man City. lose that and Everton turns into a must win etc etc

if you slip behind early on there is often no way back.

In your first 4 games you had 2 points and hadn't scored a goal, yet you survived. It is a marathon not a sprint. You are just trying way to hard to be negative fella. It's okay though aslong as it makes you feel better.

2 of those games were against Arsenal and Man City both away  we took points off both the other ''weaker'' teams which is what you have to do.

not to mention us not spending £30 million either

Yeah and we will be playing Man City along with a tough game against Everton. My point is failing to win in the first few games doesn't mean you won't survive. Money spent is irrelevant because we needed to spend that amount of money in order to compete in this league because it is a huge step up for us, something you are failing to realise haha.

Big step now? We came from the same league you know.

yes, you can drop points early but drop them against the top 4 and you are ok, drop them against the likes of West Ham early then you will struggle to get off the mark.

Yeah what's your point? We know we have to spend to compete in this league why is that difficult to understand? If we spent less than £10 mil everyone would be saying we didn't spend enough to survive. Yeah but you also lost away to West Ham last season so I don't think many of our fans will be shitting themselves yet. Marathon not a sprint. I just think you are nitpicking because you are no longer a league above us and feeling a little bit bitter. :ayatollah:

Massive learning curve for us, incredibly Malky, he will reassess the selection he made today for sure. Sounds like Connolly had an awful game, Brayford Hudson Caulker Taylor would be the ideal defence for next week
