Medel to start against west ham?

Defender Declan John is set to make only his second first-team appearance when Cardiff begin their Premier League campaign at West Ham. Bluebirds boss Malky Mackay is set to hand the teenager a start at Upton Park as regular left-back Andrew Taylor misses out through suspension. New signing Steven Caulker will start at centre-back but Mackay has said he will give plenty of the players who helped get the club into the top flight the chance to impress on the opening day. Summer signing Andreas Cornelius is a doubt with a minor injury suffered in pre-season but record signing Gary Medel will go straight into the starting line-up after completing his move from Sevilla last weekend.
