So its Sissoko and Montero next then?

Thu Aug 15, 2013 8:54 pm

French media rports are suggesting that former Liverpool midfielder Mohamed Sissoko has agreed a deal to join Cardiff City and is on the verge of signing for us. Sissoko is known to be likely to leave Paris Saint-Germain in the near future with a number of loan and permanent interest reported for him. Olympiakos were thought to be close to his signing, but the terms offered were deemed insufficient by the player and his agent.

City completed the signing of another defensive midfielder Gary Medel last week, a club record signing who joins the likes of Gunnarsson and Mutch competing for the 'midfield enforcer' role in Mackay's starting XI. It does not seem likely that a similar player in Sissoko's mould, despite his pedigree, would be an obvious priority.

Sissoko has had a string of high profile clubs like PSG, Fiorentina recently and Juventus. However, he has never become an integral player for any side and never seemed to find a natural home for his aggressive and powerful talents.

French media reports say the deal is 'close', though this may well be another case of Cardiff City interet being used to try and stimulate firm interest in a player.

Think there may be something in this one though personally I'd rather see Gunnar or Mutch play.

Basically says we are serious about signing Montero and are willing to put 5 million Euros (that's about £3 Million) on the table. However as we all know things are a little more advanced than that, shouldn't be long now
