City team v West Ham

Wed Aug 14, 2013 10:25 pm

Mental and Corny for various reasons are not ready yet. The latter will only have been a day with the squad and he cannot speak English, whilst the latter is not quite match fit. So:

Marshall

Connolly
Caulker
Turner
John

Smith
Gunner
Witts
Bellers

Kim

Campbell

Subs: Lewis, Hudson, Brayford, Cowie, Noone, Mason, Maynard

Is Gunnar ready following injury?

Be the team you selected with Medel or Gunnar in the team and on the bench with Cowie not making the squad.

I'm not sure who though, Malky played Kim with hardly any English so it's not beyond possibility.

Kim did not come in for a long time. Gunner is nearly there and certainly ready for say 70 minutes as he is a naturally fit player. Cowie must be there as a back up. A most underrated player because he is not a glam player but a man to be with you in the trenches. In addition, he has been very good in the pre season friendlies and will give everything for the cause. In fact as he can cover in some many positions he is a great player to have on the bench.

Kim was involved in the Olympics until 10th Aug. played V Millwall on Sept 18th so allowing for a break he was ready within 3-4 weeks. Plus he was on the bench before that suggesting Malky would play him if needed. That with no pre-season and a larger gap than Medel has.

I'm not a Cowie hater but with Smith, Gunnar and Medel in the squad there are enough work horses (though personally don't get why Smith is there yes been ass since Feb). Your team contains no Gestede though and you'd imagine he'll be an option on the bench and I think Mayard is out.

Marshall
Connolly caulker turner john
Gunnarson medel
Smith kim conway
Cambell
Smith and conway for me gives the fullbacks more protection especially as they both like to go forward
Subs
Big gamble but worth it no goal keeper on bench
Gestede bellamy noone whittscowie hudson mcnoughton
Ive based this on the assumption that maynard and cornelious are injured/not fit :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
Sat here with a hard hat on so lets have it

marshall
mcnaughton caulker hudson john
gunnarson medel
bellers kim noone
campbell

lewis, connolly, cowie, whitts, cornelius, lappin, conway

mcnaughton will run all day and work hard and will also give us the go forward on attack.
hudson for leadership (never has a great pre-season.)
lappin for cover incase john is out of his depth.
i think personally this is our best team to date, we do need a winger to cover noone though, not sure how he is going to cope! :old: :old: :malky: :malky: :malky: :malky: :notworthy:

Marshall

Brayford
Caulker
Turner
John

Whitts
Gunnar
Kimbo

Noone
Campbell
Bellamy

Subs: Lewis, Hudson, Medel, Connolly, Gestede, Mason, Conway

I think against a team like West Ham, Gestede could come on as a sub and make an impact like he did last season.

I think that could be the team Malky goes with, the only player I think he will include is Medel on the bench. :ayatollah:

Nope I wouldn't put them in just yet only because medal ain't trained with the team yet so he needs to get use to playing with them andwith Declan John I don't think he be able to handle the big step just yet I think give him a game or two in the cup just to ease him into it and then put him into the team. That's just my opinion

No Brayford or Mason at all, start with Kev and have Cowie and Lappin on the bench? Glad you're not picking the team.

Saw McNaughton in Bridgend today and when I asked about the team for Saturday he said Malky hasn't said anything yet.

I didn't think Gunnarson looked match fit last week can see Medel starting with him coming on

Re: City team v West Ham

There is No chance of Whittingham being left out. He must start.

Passed a fitness test so aviable for selection. :ayatollah:

Re: City team v West Ham

Marshall

Brayford (he's a good footballer so why can't he fill in at left back? He's played centre back and centre midfield for Derby)
Turner
Caulker
Connolly

Medel

Bellamy
Kim
Gunnarsson
Whittingham (on the right tucking in to defend when necessary)

Campbell

Subs: Lewis, John, Hudson, Cowie, Noone, Smith, Mason (Cornelius and Maynard are injured, Rudy is linked with a move away, so are Campbell and Mason our only 2 available strikers?)

I think Brayford may start and concerns on Declan but I agree with your other selection.
