TV streaming services question (hardware)

Wed Aug 14, 2013 8:39 pm

Ive got loads of devices like playstations and xboxes all linked to tv's at home so im able to use netflix, but I dont have a device linked to the tv in my bedroom.

I'm not going to use a console because im not encouraging my kids to use my bedroom as a gaming centre of excellence, and the sky box in there is not a hd box so I cant use that.

Whats piece of hardware is my cheapest option to connect to the tv to use my netflix service on that tv?

I've got a Western Digital WD TV Live in my bedroom does the trick, is wireless and it will let me watch USA and UK Netflix. Less than 70 quid on Amazon.

If you go into the network settings you are using, choose Manual instead of automatic and change the DNS settings to 190.14.36.90 you should get USA Netflix. Put it back to automatic if you want UK.

Let me know if you can't sort it let me know and I'll send you more specific instructions.

I have this as it streams movies from my hard drive, but if you just want streaming services you may rather the Roku as it has Netflix, BBC and Channel 5 whereas mine only does Netflix and BBC.

No, it only needs the dns to be changed. I use it on my PS3, Xbox, Sony Blu Ray and WDTV, always works.

I'm with Virgin for my broadband perhaps it depends on your provider.

I have also used 208.122.23.22 or 208.122.23.23 or 109.123.111.24 if they don't work sorry but you will have to return to automatic.
