Yeah because with their 20+ million profit last season Michu would go for easy 20-25 they would never be able to get a replacement.

Re: Adios Michu

Wed Aug 14, 2013 10:01 am

If they dont pay £30m then they dont get him. If they get him they pay £30m.

Either way, Swansea win.

There are 2 flaws in this
1.It is the Mirror you are quoting.
2.It is Arsenal that are named. They always pretend to be interested in top players. But how often do they actually go through with it?
It is all about keeping their fans happy. It seems their fans have caught on now and just ignore the rumours.

If Liverpool actually relent and sell Suarez I think Michu has more chance of going there.

That's more believable.
Although again can you really see Arsenal spending £40M + on one player.

Not sure about that. Yes the money is great but the likelihood of finding a player who would be as effective for anything less than £20m are slim.

Yes, it is possible but most realistic people would agree that it's unlikely.

I'm sure Laudrup would much rather have Michu than £30m to spend and that's a fact. He may even be pretty disillusioned if they start selling they're best players and having to continually re-build rather than progress.

Re: Adios Michu

How petty is this thread BTW? And some of us have the cheek to say the Jacks are obsessed?

If Swansea get £20-30m for Michu then well done to them.

They only had one striker last year and have already bought in Bony. They have identified good players in the past and no doubt they will in the future, with or without Michu!!

People said that after we didnt secure the services of Gylfi.

It may be nice to keep your best players but its nit realistic. If Spurs cant hold onto players and neither can Man Uts then we cant if the right price comes.

We have had this for the past decade and people have said the same each time. Trundle, robinson, martinez, scotland, gomez, boode, de vries, pratley, Rodgers, sinclair, allen, caulker, borini, gylfi.... Etc etc etc

Each time we replace, each time we progress.

Replacing Michu will not be easy as he is some player.

And thats same thing was said about Gylfi.

The fact is we managed perfectly well without him reaching 11th place in the league and have since improved the squad immensely irrespective of Michu.

I agree to an extent in that you've, up to now, done a great job in replacing losses but none of those mentioned are in the class of Michu and a number of the best of them were only loanees in any event so therefore that's completely different. Rodgers/Laudrup would never have planned their approach around Caulker/Borini/Gylfi as they knew that the likelihood was that they wouldn't be there long.

Michu was a permanent signing and proved to be of the highest quality in his first season. The higher the calibre the more difficult they are, by that very definition, to replace.

Michu, based on last season, would leave a massive hole. Bony might do it but, as with some of our signings, is unproven and therefore I really believe that losing Michu would be a massive blow, however you dress it up and Laudrup would not want to sell him. I'm sure he'd rather sell any other player in his squad than Michu, given the choice.

But thats the same.

Robinson was said to be irreplacable, he was relaxed with pratley who was better, whomwas replaced by gylfi, who was relaced by michu.

Each time it seems they are irreplaceable because they are better than they players they replaced. Michu will go at some point, and michu will be replaced.

The fact is we coped perfectly well without him finishing just outside the top 10 and since then we have added shelvey, bony, hernandez, chico, now have davies, de guzman, pozuelo and canas.

Laudrup and Michu will be gone sooner than later. Your luck will not last. Football clubs who punch above their weight always hit the wall eventually. You've had enough time in the sun, step aside

But none of those you mention were key goal scorers previously. We all know how important they are. It may prove to be our achilles heel too.

I just think you are being naiive if you think you can replace Michu's goals easily for any less than £20-30m. We shall see.

Yeah Huw never gets those stupid valuations: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19215804

And Michu signed a new deal http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21163782 so his buy not clause would have gone up (and its always higher in forwards).

Tere is no luck in what Swansea have done btw. They get credit by the national media for behaving worse than Cardiff have done at the times f their administration. But what they did since them was ahead of the curb.

Gylfi scored 7 in 18 for us which is great for an attacking midfielder, his goals were key.

I havent said he would be replaced easily, im telling you that he will be replaced. As ive said we finished 11th withiut him and with a worse squad. If he goes we have £30m to improve further, if he doesnt then we keep him.

Its win win.

Its huws very correct valuation. We dont need to sell, and its up to Huw and nobody else. michu signed a 4 year deal recently.

As we proved with Allen. You match the valuation or you dont get the player.

Simple.
