The French Left back currently at Valencia has been subject to a lot of interest from Premier league clubs as of late.
Sunderland first made contact with the defender and looked close to sealing the deal, until Liverpool swooped in to turn the players head. Terms were agreed and the only thing left was for the two clubs to agree the term of the transfer. Liverpool were willing to pay around €1m euros for a season long loan with a view to a €4m transfer if it was a successful loan.
Valencia were not keen on the Loan move and wanted a permenant switch.
That's where the deal collapsed.

Can Cardiff step in and resurrect any sort of deal before another clubs does?

If MM is interested, then there is no doubt we have every chance.
