If it did, I would stop talking about relegation and start looking at mid table at the minimum for us with the signings we're making

I think our biggest signing is yet to happen yes... The trend of our big signings so far is one way- breaking our transfer record each time. This may be no coincidence in the way MM and VT have gone about their business leaving the bigger signings until last. If say we splashed £15mil on one player at the start of the window then everybody would know we have money to burn, and each club would try and fleece us that bit more. However, just by making players our record signing each time it might have a psychological effect on the selling clubs that they must be getting as much as they can from us. Maybe....
