" Premier League New Boys Cardiff City Top Football's Most Violent Fans League "

Cardiff City have banned more fans from their ground than any other English club, a new study has revealed.

The Premier League new boys, who have long been blighted by a reputation for hooliganism, have issued a total of 135 banning orders to stop unruly fans from attending their matches.

Premier League title contenders Chelsea and Manchester United come in second and third with 112 and 98 banned fans respectively.

Leeds United and West Ham United make up the top five, with 91 and 78 fans banned from their grounds.

More than 2,700 supporters have been banned from attending games across the 92 league clubs.

The teams with the best behaved fans are League One's Milton Keynes Dons and League two's Burton Albion, who have not had to impose a banning order on any of their fans.

Supporters of the Bluebirds have said the table does not give a fair indication of the behaviour of Cardiff City fans, as many of the bans came as a result of a "one off" incident against Chelsea in the 2010 FA Cup.

Supporters from both teams were involved in clashes near Chelsea's Stamford Bridge ground, resulting in more than 90 convictions for disorder and affray.

Vince Alm, chairman of Cardiff City Supporters Club, told the Sun: "We did have problems in years gone by but the police put a lot of resources in - and it has worked.

"We may be top of the league for banning orders but we will soon drop like a stone in coming years as orders expire.

"We only had one arrest last season. We are getting bigger attendances but arrests have gone down. It shows we are going the right way."

A group of Bristol City supporters were banned for a total more than 100 years after being involved in a mass brawl outside the Cardiff City Stadium on 16 February.

A total of 32 fans were banned for between three and eight years following the violence.

Vince putting them straight.

Sun trying to have a go at Cardiff fans again, old news .

That article is so lazy......a mass brawl outside the CCS against Bristol City ???? No Cardiff fans were involved but they forget to mention that !!! It was all those pissed up Bristol kids fighting with the police.
We will never shake off the reputation with writing like that. Pathetic.

The Sun is a despicable arsewipe of a newspaper which should go the way of that other bin of shit, The News Of The Screws. I also have much contempt for Daily Mail readers, another sensationalist rag. I have even more contempt/pity for its male readers, as not only is it shit, it is shit aimed at women. Cunts, the lot of them. Happy Monday.

The banning orders is very much the only thing the tabloid press can hit us with to put us in a bad light, to the unsuspecting reader it comes over that City fans are hooligans.

There is no reporting that these bans are from several years ago and our arrest figures are dropping year on year and that at home there was just he solitary arrest of a city fan.

Typical English media, but I am glad Vince set the record straight in the small bit they quoted him.

I see they forget to mention how we have won family club of the year twice in 3 years, The Sun are always looking for the worst things to say over the good

My old home town club Grimsby Town right in there :o :o :o they only have round 3000 at home matches now.

Its like mentioned, pure lazy journalism. Unfortunately a lot of police forces feel the same way, that hooliganism still exists so we are in for a lot of hassle this season

These figures are a total up to November 2012.

The new bans for a year, Nov 2011 to Nov 2012 see us behind Chelsea, Man U, Middlesboro, Leeds and Bradford.

Bristol City are in for a shock next year as they had 30 banning orders in one foul swoop recently. That figure alone is twice ours for the year.

It's to the credit of SWP that we (and now Bristol City) have quite a few banning orders. If other forces put in the same hard work the rag that is the Sun would get the real picture.

Check out the link below and look at total arrests, we are angels compared to some clubs.

spot on comment that , hard work and common sense by the likes of Simon Insole (rip) is the reason Cardiffs off field reputation has improved massively

Re: The banning League Table was dragged up in the Sun again

Just made me realise how many damn right scummy people there are in this world. All their writers/editors etc do is write senceless crap just to make money, they'll put anyone in the shit just to make a bit of money and stir a bit of contorversy.

They could come up of many articles about Cardiff City that would not show us up as a bad club, but they will always find that one bad tiny little scratch hidden way, way beneath the surface and in a period in time that, as a club, is behind is.

We've just been promoted to the prem, broke our transfer record three times this window, have our premier league debut on saturday, won family club of the year 2 years on a bounce, had our highest attendances in long while and have one of the brightest young, BRITISH managers at the moment. Yet all they pick up on is that...crazy

This club is going places, dont let a little, pointless article stop us from bounding towards the premier league :ayatollah:
