Bellamy a bit controversial

Mon Aug 12, 2013 1:34 am

I am reading his book out here in the states and its a right cracking read.

But I just read his comments on the rebrand and I was a little taken a back. "Look" for one he isnt a Cardiff City supporter he is an out and out Liverpool fan, now I must say I love Bells to bits and its his choice to support Liverpool but if it wasn't for the sake of his kids he would not be here.

That was his reason for coming here and you cant blame him. Yes he is from Cardiff but that does not make him a fan. But I feel just like most people who like Man U and the likes of Liverpool they can except the red very easily. But how would Bells react to Liverpool going Blue ? Hmmmm.

Yes you can see when we went up what it did mean but had his marrige of worked out he would of stayed at Liverpool but still that picture of him smiling when we scored at Wembley is something else :D :D

Nukes, My wife's bought me the book, I haven't read it yet, but I honestly never knew who he really supported, so is Bellamey a Liverpool fan, not a Cardiff fan ?

He mentions his first game was at NP watching Cardiff. But that due to their success and the lack of direction at the club he supported Liverpool more than Cardiff, but as his dad was (and is) a stalwart Cardiff fan he remained a bond with the club. I think (i'm not 100%) he mentions a real affinity with the city too as being one of the reasons he wanted CCFC in the Prem.

It's pretty understandable for me, he certainly wasn't alone.

See I've got nothing but respect for that remark, I grew up with Beller's in Trowbridge and he gives nothing but a genuine answer there. And hes right you cudn't even buy a City top in the shops back then, so what did most kids do? Support Man U, Liverpool and the like, why? Because of playground banter, every footy fan wants that. He dosn't claim to be a die hard city fan, like allot of people are now doing (mostly wearing RED.. but not all!) I do suspect if Liverpool went Blue though, he'd have something to say, normally does, hahaha, Legand! :notworthy:

Having read his book, there is no doubt about his love for LFC, but also no doubt (imo) that Cardiff City FC come a very close second.

You only have had to see him the night we got promoted to see the love and passion he has for City. Yes Liverpool is his first club but City is very close to his heart.

Annis Beller has never made a secret of himself being a Pool fan, he even stated that he come to Cardiff to try to bring the kids better football, and the chance for them to see top clubs.
He has said he use to go to watch Cardiff City, But remember a lot of kids did at that time ,only to switch to Liverpool cos that was where all the glory was .

Nuclear, I posted a thread the other day asking if Bellamy was still a Liverpool fan and it got removed(fair enough). But this might explain his apparent ambivilance about our identity, to me he is on probabtion as a real bluebird and should not be given the platform by the media to speak on the rebrand as if a die hard fan. I would never betray anyones confidence when talking in PM, but i had a heated exchange on here in the last few months with someone i believe could be Craig Bellamy. They claimed to play for city and PM'ed to say they'd kiss the new badge this season. I'd be gutted if a Cardiff boy kissed that tatty b*stard thing, Craig if you're reading don't do it. You could end up with herpes or with a bit of luck an alergic reaction resulting your lips blowing up like Leslie Ash. :D

He has something for Cardiff due to his Dad but always loved Liverpool.

Nukes I fully agree with you there.

Give a great insight to Football overall in terms of behind the scenes with Transfers.

It's a very good book. Gives insight into the footballing world and he shares lot about his life and what he's gone through. Also you get his side of the story to a lot of his past controversies.

If he was a out and out City fan I would be interested in his views on the re brand. But in truth he doesn't have a true affinity with CCFC he is an out and out Livefpool fan. He even states in his book that he realised he made a massive mistake signing for us the first time round. All be it understandably it was because of the big time charlies and the management of Dave Jones. But since it is clear he has fallen big time for his home town club. I just feel for him to say the blue is only a colour is wrong and misguided because he has not been a fan, In fact I dont believe he even gave us a thought before he came home.
But the book was excellent and it did get you into the mind and troubles of CB
