Hull City have reportedly begun talks with Kevin Doyle after agreeing a fee of £3m for the striker with Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier today.
Tigers boss Steve Bruce has been chasing new forwards for much of the close season, despite bringing in strike duo Danny Graham and Yannick Sagbo.
Doyle started for Wolves against Gillingham yesterday but is still not part of manager Kenny Jackett's long-term plans, primarily due to his high wages.
Hull are keen on Doyle but want the Republic of Ireland international to agree a wage cut from his current £40,000 a week salary before any move can be finalised, according to The Mirror.
The 29-year-old has just entered his fifth season at Molineux, scoring 30 goals in 150 appearances for the Old Gold.

Absolutely laughable how the claimed to be pundits and press will glorify this. Palace(the play-off team) are seen as the popular team as always and that sickens me, they won three games when needed, didn't perform that well to win the league did they?
Hull - signed a pisshead/crackhead carthorse of a striker in Danny Graham and are now signing past glory Prem striker Doyle to help aid the drugs sniffing tosser. 'Premier League experience' they will shout but it means f**k all, it's all about togetherness, we saw from the 2012/2013 season, togetherness won us promotion, NO togetherness saw QPR fail dramatically.
But nope, because we signed a highly rated Danish prospect, a Chilean midfielder who has played for a Sevilla side alongside Navas and Negredo, making a name for himself. One of the best Football League right backs in Brayford we are destined for relegation.
(Didn't mention Caulker as not even the media can deny that is a good signing)

The media in this country didn't know about Cornelius or Medel until they signed for us and that's why they don't rate them. Ignorance is bliss. According to the British press, if they ain't heard of them then they ain't good. Laughable. Some journo's still think Tan is from Thailand.

It's laughable, I can't remember what player Jamie Redknapp was referring to but I remember reading on Twitter where Redknapp claimed to have seen the player in his home land(despite the player never playing football for a team in the country of birth)
The mediamakes me sick, the overrated thoughts of some journalists boggles me in this country, as you said, they're quick to write off foreign imports but as soon as they prove them wrong they claim they backed them all the way.
Only pundit I can genuinely have uttermost respect for is Gary Neville, yet to see Carragher's stance on things bar a measly few minutes but has the potential to become a good pundit. Glad Neville is a coach for England as well, learning more and more about the game from that point of view, I certainly wouldn't turn him down as a future manager here

Leigh Griffiths you are referring to 2b.
Played on loan at Scotland and was scoring for fun out there.
Kevin Doyle would be behind Mason if he was here, been poor past few seasons.
