Anyone recommend a Golf coach..?

Sun Aug 11, 2013 9:48 pm

Thinking of taking up golf (mainly due to clients always asking me to join them for a game) but its been over 20 years since I last played 'pitch and putt' so looking for a few coaching lessons in the Vale/Cardiff area if anyone can recommend a local coach to me.

Also when I go for any Golf lessons would I have to purchases clubs beforehand or would they supply..?

St Andrews Major in Barry has a golf coach who was a caddy on the PGA tour for Craig stadler. Not sure if he is any good but i see him a lot on the driving range giving lessons, i am not hundred percent on the club front but the clubhouse has cubs you can rent for a round. If you wanted to buy some Sports direct are really cheap at the moment. Worth giving him a ring if youre interested. I have never had lessons off him but the info is all over the range down there. The website is http://www.standrewsmajorgolfclub.com/p ... index.html

I have never played there but just had a little look at their website, it seems a nice course to be honest im probably going to have a round in a few weeks on there after seeing some of the pictures. The course i gave you with the link is only £10 after 5.pm so if you're learning it might be handy to do that because The Glamorganshire course seems quite posh and their websites claiming it is the oldest golf course in wales :o If you do play the Glamorganshire you have to book 24 hours in advance as well so it seems like it gets busy.

Nah not really,I'm basically asking for help and advice for other members of this messageboard. If you don't like it then why click on the thread..? So far I have welcomed the advice and will book lessons tomorrow purely down to the advice from people on here have recommended so this messageboard can be very helpful even without the trolls

Had lessons at Beagan Golf Course and they were fine. Just practice on the driving range and then did the 9 hole course myself with a few mates to get better. They'll lend you the clubs no problem but you can pick up cheep ones of decent quality down MacArthur Glenn Retail Park in the sports shop sale. Just go once or twice a week and do the driving range and course and you'll get better.

Good to relieve stress golf but expensive hobby.

Agree with this. Speak to Matthew Vanstone and his team at The Hensol Golf Academy and he will sort you out for everything you need (lessons and clubs)

Taught me when he started out and took me down 7 shots in 12 months (18 to 11) on a tough course :ayatollah:

The coach at st Andrews is the best around, don't get lessons at glamorganshire unless you get Pete who is the assistant, I'm a member at glam and the course is very gd. There are lots of deals everywhere now because of the economic downturn so check before you book. If you are looking for clubs I'm selling Cleveland ch16 irons plus 3 5 7 woods plus bag you can have for 100 quid absolute bargain

Don't buy clubs from sports direct. The heads will fall off. Take advantage of above offer. Cleveland stuff is good quality.
