I can see palace signing bent just not Darren maybe Marcus?Palace couldn't afford to sign Carlton cole yet alone Darren bent there is more chance of Vincent Tan going snorkelling with Hugh Jenkins than Darren bent signing for them.

If we get another striker I think it will be a big guy to match Cornelius, we have maynard and campbell and Bellers to fill the other positions.

Crystal Palace's Darren Bent transfer from Aston Villa could be clinched by Londoners' cunning plan
13 Aug 2013 22:29
New boys would pay £40k a week of striker's wages on season-long loan, then hand parent club a bonus if he keeps them up

Crystal Palace are ready to clinch a loan deal for Darren Bent, after putting an inventive offer to Aston Villa.

The Premier League new boys will pay around £40,000-a-week of England striker Bent’s wages - and throw in a survival bonus to Villa if he helps them avoid relegation.

Palace will also agree to negotiate a permanent deal - if all parties want one - should Bent prove the big difference between them and the drop.

The Villans wanted to sell Bent, but both Newcastle and Fulham failed to come up with acceptable financial packages.

Bent’s massive salary scared off the Geordies, while the Londoners were reluctant to commit so much cash to one deal.

Palace, though, are willing to gamble as Bent can make them realistic candidates to survive.

Boss Ian Holloway, without last season's top-scorer Glenn Muray through injury, is trying to rush through a deal in time for Bent to play in Sunday's opener against former club Tottenham.

Darren Bent joins Fulham on season-long loan

Aston Villa have confirmed that Darren Bent has joined Fulham on a season-long loan.

The England international has been linked with a number of clubs this summer but it's Fulham who have beaten off competition from Newcastle United to win the race to secure his services.

Fulham manager Martin Jol told the club's website: "Darren Bent is a striker I have always admired. He has shown in the Barclays Premier League that he is composed and clinical in front of goal but, even if he is not scoring, he is involved in some good link-up play, creating opportunities for his teammates.

"I'm delighted that he has joined us, he gives us pace up front and I am confident that he will add to our goals scored tally this season."

Bent, who joined Villa for £18m from Sunderland in 2011, found first-team opportunities limited last season due to Christian Benteke's form.

The 29-year-old is in contention for tomorrow's Premier League opener against Sunderland tomorrow afternoon.
