Mehmet Dalman has held talks with investment bankers about a possible stock market listing of Cardiff City, the Premier League football club he chairs.

Mr Dalman is widely known across the square mile and was until recently chairman of the controversial mining group ENRC.

He joined Cardiff City last month and is exploring options for the club, which is backed by the billionaire Vincent Tan. Although the plans are at an early stage it is understood that options being considered include listing in Hong Kong or Kuala Lumpur in Mr Tan's native Malaysia.

He wants to promote the club's interests in the fast-growing region and has already changed its home strip to red and incorporated a red dragon on the club's badge for marketing purposes. Mr Dalman and Cardiff City declined to comment.

This does not sit comfortable with me.

This market is Conference material with its dubious dealing, very much mafia territory. However if the right guys can take a hold of such a thing then it can become premier like. The FTSE started of like that, dodgy, but now is the market to copy. I just think this is a bit risky and would prefer us to aim for the FTSE.

I'm eyeing a far eastern listing as well, and at the moment it's looking like Prawn Foo yeung and fried rice is top of the list. 8-)

He has several times and claims it would be a disaster as Man United got nowhere with it so the logic says we won't.
