One winger or two?

Sat Aug 10, 2013 8:55 pm

Simple question, would you be happy if we only signed one winger, or do you think we could do with two?

Personally - and I know I'm being greedy here - but I'd want two. Apart from Bellamy, I really don't think any of our wingers are good enough to make the difference in the prem. Don't get me wrong, I could see Noone with his pace and Conway with his direct running making an impact off the bench, but being somewhat anonymous if they started. Kim Bo and Whitts are prem standard, but they're both best in the middle for me.

Thoughts?

Noone will grasp it well. Bellamy is on his last legs, Smith is a back-up option. Kimbo is a CAM. Conway is dreadful.

We need 2

I think one winger will probably do but what we REALLY REALLY need is a left back.

Have to be huge question marks over Taylor's defensive capabilities and it's too much to ask of Declan John at the moment. Lappin obviously nowhere near good enough.

It's the one position in the team where I think we are badly lacking at the moment.

I think what we have at LB is 3 very good back up players, but no real first choice. Taylor and Lappin both have prem experience. Are they going to set the world alight? No. But with the experience I'd be happy to see either coming off the bench. John looks promising, and I hope he gets a run out in the cups this season.

But yes, agreed, we could do with another LB. That Real Madrid guy sounded good - pacey tricky winger who can play at LB, though looks like he's going no where as they dismissed a loan offer (from Spartak Moscow I think) just last week, citing that they had him in their plans next year.

Brayford can play either side correct? Just thinking that would mean we'd either need a RB or a LB, and then move Brayford across.

Really? He does have some PL experience with Norwich.

Just one. Bellers, Noone, Smith, Conway, Kim, A.N.Other. Surely that's enough to take us until January

Bellers - won't be able to play every game
Noone/Conway/Smith - all anonymous at times in the Championship, so I see them struggling in the prem
Kim - I honestly think if he's on the wing he'll be good, in the middle he'll be outstanding.

Just my opinion of course! But that's why I opted for two...
