Cardozo deal still on!

Cardiff City are hoping to beat off competition from Russia for the signature of Benfica striker Oscar Cardozo by offering him a move to Wales.
The Paraguayan scored 17 goals for the Portuguese runners-up last term, attracting the interest of a host of European clubs and Cardiff boss Malky Mackay has now joined the race for the striker.
The 30-year-old was close to a switch to Turkish outfit Fenerbahce earlier this summer but a deal could not be agreed.
Cardozo recently admitted he does not see his future at the Stadium of Light and SportsDirect News has learned Cardiff are ready to step up their interest and make an approach to Benfica for the forward’s services.
The Bluebirds will face stiff competition from Russia to land Cardozo’s signature with Zenit St Petersburg thought to be interest in signing the striker and fellow Russian club Spartak Moscow reportedly seeing a £15 million offer turned down earlier this week.
Cardiff, however, are hopeful the lure of the Premier League will convince Cardozo to snub a move to Russia and instead make the switch to the Welsh club. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
Bluebirds boss Mackay has already brought in striker Andreas Cornelius and defender Steven Caulker so far this summer and is understood to be looking into the possibility of signing Tom Huddlestone after missing out on Etienne Capoue to Tottenham Hotspur.

I do feel we lack another striker, especially if Cornelius gets injured like today's game.

If the word going round that Gary Medel has signed subject to a medical is true, Could this then be the catalyst for other South American signings? Would make it easier for the likes of Cardozo, Montero and Moreno to settle in. Just a thought?

Is there any truth in other teams offering £15m. Would be gutted if we paid that for a 30yr old
