5 in defence?

Anybody think that malky could play 5 at the back at west ham due to having 3 quality centre backs?

We will play 4 at the back but if Medel has signed he will sit in front of the defence. Thats
all you need. All you do if you defend deep and in numbers is invite attack after attack after

You know as much as anybody how difficult the 1st season in the prem can be as I think you went the 1st 7 games without scoring a goal.I'm sure we will have a nervy start too but hopefully we will be able to at least emulate your 1st season and hopefully surpass it.

I'm not saying sit back and let them come on to us! If we can get Brayford and Taylor forward because I think that's where them 2 are at their best! If we sign a defensive midfielder I think he'll stick to 4!

The first season can also be a chance for you to take everyone by surprise.The unknown quantity and the element of surprise.It's once you've settled in and most teams have played you and figured you out it gets hard.I expect you to start well,even winning at West Ham but then as the season progresses, it getting tougher.IMO of course

And your opinion is welcome.
I'm sure I, along with all Cardiff City fans would be happy to start well and surprise a few and win at West Ham.
It's a bad idea i think to look beyond that 1st season initially so I don't think it's a good idea at this time to start thinking what may be ...next season.

I don't rate Taylor! I don't think he's anywhere near premiership quality!

Declan John strengthens Cardiff options, says Andrew Taylor

Andrew Taylor believes Cardiff have good strength in his left-back position with the emergence of Declan John.
The 18-year-old played the full match in the 1-0 friendly win over Italian Serie A side Chievo Verona.
Taylor is suspended for Cardiff's first Premier League game at West Ham on 17 August, so John, Simon Lappin or maybe Joe Ralls could fill in at left-back.
"You need competition for places. I thought he [John] did really well last week," Taylor said.
"Somebody is going to have to play left-back the first game of the season because I'm suspended.
"So if he can take his opportunity, who knows?
"It's very disappointing to miss that first game but that's football, there's nothing I can do about that now I've just got to get on and look forward to the Man City game."
Although the Premier League is Cardiff's priority, they are also quickly into Capital One Cup action and have been drawn away to League Two side Accrington Stanley - surprise 2-1 winners at Middlesbrough - in the second round.
"It's a cup game, they're never easy when you play a lower league team as they raise their game. We've been in that situation before," Taylor added.
"They got a fantastic result against Middlesbrough so it'll be a tough game for us."

Having seen Declan John in a couple of developement games I must agree with Taylor.
He has been a "stand out" performer in many of his games and I truly believe he can make a step up.
