Sadly, all the reds want is a premiership club. They would be more then happy with a name change aswell.

Who are these pro-reds honestly? I would have thought even the ones who wear red would still want us back anyway

agree mate, the way most fans have accepted the rebrand scares me.. would there be a fight if there was a name change? or would the people who stand up against it be rediculed?

You show a very poor understanding of the WHOLE situation here, fella

I know no-one who WANTS red and I know no-one who would accept a change of name either

The difference are mainly (but not all) over the methods and degree to which Vincent Tan can be influenced into making the change back to blue

Do I want a Premier League club? Too bloody right I do and you'd have to have been around a certain amount of time to fully appreciate how unlikely that looked over far too many years

That is not to 'have a go' at the younger/newer supporters. I am simply saying that this club has never had it so good in modern times and that needs to be considered carefully :ayatollah:

agreed. I think pro-red is a word that justifies the actions of others and creates an elitist mentality. Everybody would love to go back to blue. However people react in different ways, I respect the campaign to go back to blue but people should respect the fact that its not that important. That doesnt make them pro-red or only want premiership football.

Of course we want premiership football its what every club wants, weve all seen the shit times from one point or another and weve all stood together. If some fans want to go on a march go for it respect the fact that others may not want to and that doesnt make them pro-red in anyway.

Who came up with this us and them anyway? pro-red, pro blue? its alienating a lot of fans

I see where you are coming from and you may well be right in what you say there but there is a huge difference between someone who is Pro-Red (someone who WANTS it) and someone who has simply decided that the red is 'acceptable' in exchange for what they perceive as the 'betterment' of their club thanks to Tan's investment in the team and in clearing our historic debt

I am certainly not speaking on anyones behalf but my own opinion and my feeling (through talking to some of them) is that fans simply accepted that as the saviour of our ailing club and the investor of c.£80m+ Vincent Tan could effectively do what he wanted and a move to red (although abhorrent) was infinitely more acceptable than seeing the club go into Administration, certain relegation to League One and/or extinction (and no-one should doubt things were that serious for a while)

Those that buy/wear the red shirts (and I am not one of them) may have just done so out of a loyalty and support to the team that now wear those colours and are prepared to who that support in that manner

Each to his/her own on that front, so long as there is reciprocal respect for the other guy/gal's opinion and/or position

Sadly, there appears to be a distinct lack of appreciation and respect from the 'blue at any cost' group toward anyone who dares to have accepted the red (no matter how reluctantly) and this IMHO has prevented so many from supporting groups like BU in what (on paper at least) is a creditable crusade

The problem is, of course, that theory and practice are two completely different things:

Theory: Tan spends c.£80m+ and says to fans, "Hey, I've invested all this money getting you out of the mire and I don't want anything in return and you lot tell me how I should run my club"

Practice: Tan spends c.£80m+ and says to fans, "Hey, I've spent all this money getting you out of the mire and I want a return. I'll get rid of Langston, I''ll get rid of PMG and the Eggers, I'll give the manager enough tools to get us out of this division and I'll increase stadium capacity to c.40,000 if we stay up there for a season. Oh, and by the way I have decided to change the shirt from blue to red because I see a golden opportunity to gather investment for the cash rich Far Eastern Markets"

I know the last sentence doesn't sit well with any of us but if we are all totally honest, what would we have done in Tan's position; particularly when the real protests only really started once our future was guaranteed?

Again only my opinion, but I think the club have come out of this pretty damn good in reality when all is considered :ayatollah:

All I will say is " WE'RE CARDIFF CITY WE WILL ALWAYS BE BLUE "

Long after Tan and the red brigade are gone, our identity will come back and watch if City struggle, lets see who still is Cheering them on.
I've been there before on many any occasions and City fans desert in their thousands when things go wrong a fact, like most clubs, but the new Red fan will fly out faster than you will ever imagine.

We should all cheer the team on and it would be superb if we All wore BLUE , Cardiff City's Real identity

Supposed Pro Blues calling others Pro Reds when they both do the same thing and turn up to games, laughable.

criticising Tan is one thing having a go at other fans a complete other. No fan should criticise any other based on the way they support their team.

all fans pay the same amount to support the team so no fan is better than any other

Probably the most accurate post on this Forum in Years...

I don't buy info this pro red v pro blue thing, simply because it doesn't cover all if our fan base.
Where's the Pro Stone Island or Pro Aquascutum ? The Pro Civi's?

A fan wearing blue would get up and cheer " we're Cardiff city we'll always be blue" and be praised..
A fan wearing Civi's would do and get the same.
A pro red did this and he would get mocked by the above two...
Despite the fact he would be showing support for the team and the fans...

Why the name change has been dropped on this thread is pointless anyway but already there is an assumption by the so called pro blue (not all) that the pro red wouldn't be arsed if they did it. Which again is severely flawed and very inaccurate.

Instead of attempting to appeal to the fans why not demonstrate to the people who can do something about it.
Do your march against the Citeh, keep it peaceful and respectful. Do not abuse people who you cannot understand and show strength and unity to our entire club and fan base.

Do that successfully and you will gain more support than a post on a message board that will only upset and push people away. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

If we get relegated we will lose most of the red shirted supporters anyway. They'll be putting their Manc and Scouse shirts back on.

I suppose you blame Tan for making you say those words..

Good post Annis and I'm sure that would be correct if we were to return to Blue in the near future.
But there will undoubtedly be a new Die Hard fan wearing Red if it takes more than a few seasons to get back to Blue.
As the old guard Die out then a new guard will step into his/her place.
It's just so unfortunate that this ever happened in the 1st place and what is worse s the way it happened.
I've watched Cardiff City on a Tuesday night in Doncaster in the pouring rain with not many others...You were there that evening too. I hope the new Generation will have the same affiliation with our team as we did and still have long after our days.
I like to think so.

Really, you know that, well I thought that I knew what Cardiff fans would and wouldn't stand for before this whole thing started but I didn't... still, you seem pretty sure.

Surely if Tan wants to change the name, it's his team, he has the money, he can do what he likes. Now where have I heard that before? :?
