" HE WILL NOT GIVE UP "

Fri Aug 09, 2013 12:07 pm

Malky Mackay has been left frustrated at some of his transfers targets rejecting the opportunity to sign for the club this summer.

Some of the targets could certainly play at a club with a higher standing than ours in the Premier League and you could argue that one or two of those players are Champions League quality.

So what does Malky do?

Does he lower his ambition for the club and go for players who are not up to the standard or level of the players he has targeted so far, does he play it safe to bring in players he would have a far greater chance of signing?

Like hell he does, Malky will continue to target players who will progress this club and the standard of the playing squad.

The signing of Caulker is a fantastic one and a player I genuinely believe is good enough to be in a squad of a top 4 side.

Cornelius, I really don't know enough about but what I have I read, mainly on here to be fair, suggests we have got a quality signing.

So Malky will not give up on lowering his standards and will continue to keep knocking doors and asking questions of players who we would never have dreamt of possibly being linked with just a few weeks ago.

Keep up the good work Malky

We are in a difficult position, we are understandably one of the relegation favourites and as a result will find it difficult to attract players, if we can stay in the PL for another season then it will get easier :ayatollah:

I agree with Malky, we should only bring players which are better than what we got and improves the club in the long term. To change our strategy and lower our expectations could have disastrous implications to our team.

Yes, Malky has been knocked back few times, but the signing of Caulker proves there are players who are willing to play for our club. Why bring players in who are not better than what we got and will be wasted away in the development league.

I was hoping the Caulker signing would make it a bit easier to bring in some of his targets.

But he's right to keep pursuing the quality targets even if we do take a few knock backs on the way.

Keep it up Malky. :malky:

I think you're right, consolidation has to be priority this season, if we can do that then we might attract bigger players.

Quality and quantity are required to survive let alone make an impact in this league.

right, ive been using this philosophy all my life with birds, you can land a bush pig all day long in most places, but if you just keep going for the lookers all the time, one with fall into your lap one day......keep it up :malky:

worst case is we get relegated, doubtful i grant you as we have added quality to a good team. another quality midfielder like a few mentioned on another thread and a pacy winger and i reckon we will be mid table.... :ayatollah:

As, dare I say it, Swansea have proven. Theyve been clinical in this transfer window.

Very true to a point as they have sold as well as spent well.

However, I still think they have also benefited from being promoted to the PL at a very fortuitous time. The current PL is worst its ever been in terms of quality. TBH if the Man United team of last year can win the title with points to spare then it says a hell of a lot about the rest.

But there again they have made the most of their luck and that's exactly what we have to do.

Southampton are another club who spent well 1st year, and got in even bigger targets in year 2.
