Cardiff City donation to WELSH charities

Thu Aug 08, 2013 1:12 pm

I have to say that this is the best news to come out of the club all summer. Yes, even better than the signing of Steven Caulker. The fact that all of this money is staying in Wales and will go to "the people of Cardiff and the valleys" that support the football club is fantastic. And even more, that this money will come once a year for every year that we stay in the Premiership, is unbelievable. People say that modern footballers have lost touch, but what could be a bigger motivator than knowing by keeping this team in the Premiership thousands upon thousands of people will benefit? CCFC also being an institution that with continued success will help grow and support Welsh charties. FANTASTIC. And for those who believe that Tan does not care about the fans of Cardiff City or the people of Wales, then maybe this will act as a wake-up call. This shows that at the heart of our club we look after our own community and the people who support it. I have never been prouder to be a Cardiff City fan than I am today. I take my hat off to Vincent Tan for this. I truly believe that he is the best thing to ever happen to this club. And I am behind him. Of course I wish we still played in a blue home shirt and had our old badge. But when I look at the progress that this club has made under Tan and Malky I am in no doubt that Tan's continued investment and involvement in the club is for the best. And while some will disagree, think about how many people's lives will be be changed by this money. And how trivial the matter of the colour of our shirt is in comparison.

Well Done Vincent Tan. Truely, well done. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Would it be some how worse if the money was going to Africa to help aids or famine?

All charities do great work.

I think the point the OP is trying to make is that everyone bleats on about how Tan only cares about Malaysians and not locals when this donation clearly shows and proves otherwise. Tan just wanted something in return, to freshen the image of Cardiff City and to make it more attractive in Asia, that's all. It's a lot to give up but when you consider what we get back from Tan we have to understand we are getting the better end of the deal and Tan is doing good by us.

I'm sure he does that too. Donating to charities abroad is all well and good and there is a time and place for it. Donating to local charities is helping local communities, supporters of the club and their families. Charity begins at home.

No I have nothing against donating Foreign Aid and many, many charities do great work in many depressed regions of the globe. But they also have much more substantial funding from Government bodies and private organizations. But my point is that this money connects club and community and makes the bond between the two stronger and that can only be a good thing for CCFC and the fans and the board. And the fact that we will see the benefits of this money in many, many welsh communities is simply fantastic. That was all.
