Walked around Bridgend today. Oh Lordy!!!

There are some right beauties walking around that once nice town these days. I thought I was on a set of a Simon Pegg film.

And to think that years ago, I used to have some good Saturday and Sunday nights there with mates. There were some decent looking women there. Snobby, but smart. What happened?

Today, I didnt see a woman without a tattoo, scar, woodbine, shell suit or twitch!

Fack me. They used to look down on the Valleys in Bridgend. Well at least the Poles who came to the Valleys didn't f@ck off back home to Warsaw i fear!

I've got a contract to train up loads of the unemployed from Bridgend job centre , some right beauts, some have been out of work for several years , and sadly a lot of them will probably never gain full time employment again, not the same area I grew up in, not sure what happened .

Had many great nights in bridgend but its not what it was by some way. Having said that you can't compare a weds afternoon with a Saturday night when all the fanny is dressed up and on the pull

The Town centre of Bridgend is truly depressing, even by the standards of the Valleys. They even shut the McDonalds! I can't think of anywhere that a McDs has shut. Charity shops and empty shops. I thought Barry had gotten bad but it looks super-affluent compared to Bridgend.

A prime example of a town centre wrecked by out of town development.

And for sheer scary women I don't think you can beat the Cynon Valley.

Should have given the bus station a look, lovely loads of chavs with one bike between them hanging around all day....the pub opposite is not much better....bigend is a right shithole.....and i live in porthcawl ffs

Bridgend was nice once? Really? Just a mahoosive housing estate with a couple of retail parks and car dealerships!

I will say that the sandwich shop on the top end of Nolton Street is very nice though...

Called there after the Cheltenham game for a few ales, old bill everywhere, woman scrapping, blokes spewing, young girls ruined rolling about on the floor with theyr bacon hanging out good night tho fair play

Classic example of bad management and planning by the council.
Retail parks everywhere while the centre has rotted away and lost
All its character.

Council selling off land to developers on one hand
While losing money on the other hand by loss of business and rates
Etc in the centre.

Kids without cars have no chance of employment and a start
In life as everything is out of town and difficult to get to by public
Transport.

The greedy councillors wheel and deal while the place sinks downward.

Council bosses have no interest serving us taxpayers and residents
They are too focussed on their own financial empire building to
Give two fucks for us
Wankers the lot of them

Sadly it's not just Bridgend that's gone downhill I paid a visit to Abergavenny recently which used to be a lovely little town it's now on a par with Bridgend

I've lived the majority of my 48 years in Bridgend but 5 years ago I moved close to Bournemouth.

I think th OP can work out why. It's a shame.

Cowie and Conway live in pen y fai. Chopra and mcphail lived in corntown. A couple of other city live local.
They probably do there shopping online, I think most centres have had there day, except for the major ones.

I'm from Cathays but live in Bridgend and have to agree with everything the OP says. The town centre is truly horrendous.
