Yes mate. The pub is just a normal pub, but the staff are very friendly...

2 women do the food together. They spent time travelling the southern states of America to come up with the best smoked meat cooking technique. They invested in a proper bit of kit which they imported at quite a large expense, and I don't think anywhere else in Cardiff has the same equipment. Smoked meat is a bit of an in thing at the moment but you can take shortcuts and produce less authentic goods. But they do it properly and cook the meat for days I believe. The lady who serves it is very enthusiastic and will talk you through the cooking process. Personally I like places with a bit of character and where the emphasis is on the food, and not the f*cking company you keep.

Personally - The food is lush, the meat's lush - so tender and tasty, the chips are lush, the coleslaw and the beans are very nice, and so are the sauces. I've been meaning to go back ever since and will do so before the end of the month. Reasonably priced too and decent portions.

We went on a Saturday and it was nice and quiet and you can sit in the back. But - the beef brisket wasn't available because it sold out on the Friday. She said the only way to guarantee availability of all meats is to be there when they open for business on Friday evening. So that's what I'm gona do next time. Am guessing the pub wouldn't be too hectic on a Friday but I think they kind of separate the eating customers from the people having a drink. Perhaps a place for a first date only if you know she's gona get involved!

Enjoy!

Is it part of the pub then, or like a seperate restaurant section?

Food is served in the pub. No wall or anything separating diners from drinkers but there are tables set out with menus on one side of the bar which I presume are therefore reserved just for customers of hang fire.

Cool cheers.

Does the pub make an effort with more AMerican beers and things? I love American IPA type beers.
