And when was it rebuilt? I remember as a schoolboy getting wet there back in the mid 90's?

From Wikipedia.....

'The John Smiths Grange End became the most vocal area of the ground (from the Bob bank up until the 90's) and was a fully covered terrace, previously uncovered for many years, before its renovation in 2001 after Sam Hammam took over as chairman.'

I only went in there once after the roof was built, (I was always bob bank terrace) we beat Burnley 3-1 I think (Darren purse og or terrible back pass) and the atmosphere was awesome, the boys in there gave Jensen the gk a torrid time. I was planning on getting my play off semi ticket for the grange end but of course that never happened and Burnley went on to get promoted.

I have to admit I'm totally puddled, I could have sworn it was nearer the eighties, absolutely hopeless with dates and times it just all blends into one.

Wasn't it on health safety grounds? The Grange end was renovated and made narrower in depth to allow bigger walkway at back? Because the walkway was covered by stand originaly before alterations. All to do with Hillsborough and Bradford fire?

The safety of sports ground Act, well before Hillsborough & Bradford. Ninian Park's capacity was reduced from about 50.000 to little more than 10.000 at one stage, due to the extent of the improvements & work needed to be carried out.
