A march to thank the generosity of Vincent Tan

Tue Aug 06, 2013 7:41 pm

Im thinking of organising a parade prior to the Man City home game in honour of VT's generosity to the club and his efforts in giving MM the backing to get us promoted to the Premier League and giving our club stability.

Actually im not really thinking of doing this BUT do you think that if BU make pre match protests/marches a regular thing, that fans who havent bought into their ethos may take a polar opposite view just out of frustration?

Just a thought

i can imagine if you unveiled banner saying "No Red.. We'll always be blue" you would be asked to take it down.

but if it said "Thank you for everything Vincent" would they ask?

Ian, I was just thinking that we (non BU members) have to put up with alot since the rebrand, being labeled as crap fans etc, people may rebel if they think that Tan who have done a lot for us is getting to much flak

And anti-rebrand fans have also had to put up with a lot... There are idiots on both sides.

Fair point Krabb and Alex, I agree, but its BU who are going to take some of the limelight off our first game in the top flight not other fans. I'll be focusing on the football (dressed in casual blue clothes, doing my bit peacefully)

That's your viewpoint Gav, respect that, but to me - its the rebrand that's taking some of the limelight from our first premiership game.

It's a shame that fans are split in such a way.

I wont be marching i shall be swigging stella at the bar during the time then walking to the ccs to watch the game, the best way to put the message across is to wear blue although i feel another free give away stunt comming on for the 1st home game :ayatollah:

Gav, you've nailed exactly what this BU march, on arguably our biggest game in over 50 years, is going to achieve. ...... namely "polarise" the fans.

Clearly I was just using the march as an example of what could potentially happen if the split between fans grows over the season.
See you in the pub before the game for a Stella 8-)

I have respect for both sides, personally i would back VT ! We all want to be playing in Blue, but one thing is for sure, We are gonna get ripped to bits by Away fans. I sit in the Family stand with my Kids and even they get embarresed at the abuse we get. Well it;s going to be 10 times worse this season, i heard the Jacks on Tv pick on the Bristol City chant of , We used to be Blue but now wer'e REd red , we look like twats when we tap our heads ... :sad7:

I would be gobsmacked if a handful of people would turn up.

This business of being labelled as crap fans by none BU members is something that these none BU members have convinced themselves into believing that BU are accusing them off. Just because one or two BU have made notions like that does not mean BU as a whole believe that.
