A forum for all things Cardiff City

CARDIFF divert their attention to other transfers.
As their Etienne Capoue bid continues to stall, Cardiff City are targeting alternatives - with Stephane Mbia and Tom Huddlestone heading the list – according to reports.
Toulouse midfield maestro Capoue, 25, has held up his proposed move to South Wales for nearly two weeks, despite a bid being accepted and personal terms being agreed.
The France international is believed to be waiting for Spanish giants Atletico Madrid to make a serious bid after a summer of supposed interest.
Excited Spanish newspapers and websites are using Malky Mackay's alternative interests to suggest the path is being cleared for Atletico boss Diego Simeone to make his £9m move.
Cameroon international Mbia, 27, is not keen to play in the Championship for QPR this season and, with his contract in West London due to expire at the end of the current season, would expect to be keen on a move to South Wales.
But after Mackay missed out on Celtic's Victor Wanyama and seemingly Capoue in his search for a midfield 'destroyer', the 41 times capped Cameroonian would be viewed as third choice on the Bluebirds' list.
There have also been suggestions that after the Bluebirds' successful raid on Tottenham Hotspur for centre back Steven Caulker, the Premier League newboys might be follow it up with a bid for team mate Tom Huddlestone, who has been tracked by Sunderland and Fulham this summer.
Mackay praised Spurs chairman Daniel Levy for his professionalism in handling Caulker's switch to South Wales and the Scot might be keen to utilise the relationship to prize the four times capped 26-year-old out of White Hart Lane.

Good to see Wales Online have no other sources apart from Twitter
What a joke

WE ARE IN THE DARKa Wales Online report:
We have no idea who Cardiff City are currently tracking, who they are speaking
to or who they have decided not to bother with. We have no contacts, no insiders
and Malky Mackay plays his cards close to his chest....If Carling did Newspaper Exclusives!

I do hope we are after Huddlestone though regardless of how things with Capoue are going. If we could get him for around £5-6m I would say that's a pretty good deal considering what he can offer us.

How inept are WalesOnline?!

it is still being reported in Spanish and Italian press that we are the only club who have had their offer to Toulouse accepted. Atletico still want him but are only prepared to pay £7 million. Still looks as if we are favourites to sign him to me.

Believe it or not, Athletico are struggling money wise they are finding it very difficult to make the £7m bid, which I personally think they have not made, all that money that they have had in, and all gone out again on debts

Correct no official bid has been made by Atletico because they are well short of Tolouse valuation of Capoue

good player by all accounts BUT is he want we want when it's pretty obvious that he wants to be elsewhere, I don't blame him for wanting a BIGGER club but why not just say no straight away? seems a bit like Ince all over again.

Difference with capoue and ince is that capoue knows he is champions league quality. We can't blame him for it. However it be great signing for us because hes showing he has ambition.
Ince is just a tosser. He thinks hes better than what he is.

You can't blame Capoue for holding out for a Champions League club because all of the indications are that he is good enough to play for a big club at that level, but, if no one comes in for him, he will at least have the very decent consolation prize of a chance to move to a club who will treble his wages - there's your reason why he hasn't come out and said no to us.

Huddlestone could do a job IMO, but I wouldn't pay anymore than £5m for him and not sure he fits the malky style, he can be very lazy and does go missing in the big games, malky keeps proving us wrong so I'm sure there will be a few gems to come in and do a job!!!

Just says that Capoue could quickly leave the club if he accepts the offer from Cardiff
Mon Aug 05, 2013 9:02 pm
We can not say that (the market) is completed, as well as the side of departures arrivals. "Etienne Capua could quickly leave the club if he accepts the proposal of Cardiff".

Huddlestone. No thanks. No City player should be allowed to wear an Alice Band.
