DON COWIE

Sun Aug 04, 2013 9:22 pm

Dont suppose He is going to get much of a look-in this season. Yesterday, he covered every in of thae pitch! By far the fittest midfielder we got at the club. A lot of people say he doesn't figure in the grand scheme of things, but I think Malky thinks differently. He could be the vital player for us this year. He doesn't get all the glory of a top player, nothing fancy in his style of play and often overlooked by the class of kimbo;smooth Whitts; and raw talent of Mutch! He can be an important player for us in the PL, as his engine in the middle of the park will be invaluable. Apart fro kimbo and caulker, Cowie was my man of the match against Chievo.

sorry but I don't think he good enough for the prem good for the championship tho

Re: DON COWIE

Fairplay yesterday he really put hiself about and done well.

He hasn't done too bad.

He might not be good enough but who knows.. he is a real engine and because we are new to the Prem he will be useful as he can come off the bench and help out.. see the game out.

Can see him getting fed up by January, if we bring Capoue/Huddlestone then cowie will struggle to get a kick. I will always respect him and hold him in high regard, a true sportsman and professional. The best attitude I've seen at Cardiff. :malky:

Great pro. If we are in a relegation fight he is just the right person to have in the trenches with you. An unsung hero. Keep him Malky. Every team needs a dog. He wont let you own.

Like him as a person and yes he does have a fantastic attitude.

But every time he came off the bench last season I just thought the game slowed down - and not in a good way - it was just borking scrappy football and although he made every effort not to let the opposition into the Cardiff half he just isn't going to be up to standard in the prem.

Send him back to the championship where he can have an important role in a decent team and play regular football

The thing is, although he didn't look great last season, we're going to be playing differently this season. We won't always be looking to attack, we'll be looking to contain.

Cowie is remarkably fit, he could offer a lot simply by chasing and closing down key players in the middle of the park. It's a dirty job, but he's very capable of doing it.

Look at the type of job Park Ji Sung did for Man United; he wasn't blessed with much technical ability, but he could tip the balance of games just by running around and getting in players faces.

Re: DON COWIE

Cowie played on saturday the same way he's always done. Headless chicken football. His only input is to chase the ball around like a demented jack russell. But there is room for it, as malky knows, if we're 1 goal up with 20 minutes to go, cowie is the perfect bloke to bring on.

Re: DON COWIE

He's got a part to play I think - as has been mentioned, he's got a particular set of skills that is needed in certain games, and they'll still be needed this season. He's a Darren Fletcher/Scotty Parker type of grafter, and they tend to get overlooked by people because they don't do stepovers!

I think he has more to offer than just his engine .in this league it's about keeping the ball and he rarely gives it away.

Although he will be lucky to start 5 games next season he will be a great player to bring on to see out a game, He has an incredible engine :ayatollah:

He'll be our Darren Fletcher doing the dog work running about and breaking up play. He is a model pro and hopefully Malky keeps him. Norwich proves it takes team spirit and a touch of class to stay up and QPR proved if you sign a bunch of randomers then you often don't get the results you want.

Darren Fletcher has a lifelong illness he needs to shape his career around. How ignorant.

Wooow, Are you lot serious?! I would never wish upon anyone any kind of serious illness/injury and I have not made fun or laughed at what is happening in Darren Fletcher's situation. I wish him all the best in his recovery and to call me ignorant is way over the top and a bit ott to be honest. It was a slight comment made to be funny but I guess it wasnt taken that way buy some.

In no way have I taken the Micky out of Fletcher's situation in my comment, I have just stated that he never plays(Fact) albeit to a serious illness. Again I reiterate, I never wish upon anyone, be it a footballer or just a random person, any kind of serious ill/injury. You may have taken my comment the wrong way here, there was no intention for ignorance or mockery here. :?

Calling you ignorant is hardly way over the top.

Ignorant means lacking awareness about something in particular, so it was surely used in the right context. Nobody is accusing you of malicious intent mate.

No, the correct definition of the term ignorant is "Lacking education or knowledge". Also I never claimed anyone of using malicious intent :? I may have been unaware to what his first comment was meant to say but I was never ignorant to it. :ayatollah: My comment was taken out of context, and was never wrote to be taken in the manner that it was :)

I thought he was outstanding during his first season, despite being played out of position. He probably played on the right because of lack of numbers, yet he was still very consistent. Last season, he wasn't so involved, but on most of the occasions when he did play, he seemed to be in the middle, regularly.

He'll be needed, and Malky will keep him :ayatollah:
