Hector Moreno is a target for Cardiff and Swansea
Reports in Spain had suggested that both Swansea and Cardiff had made offers for the 25-year-old, with the Bluebird's bid thought to be in the region of £4m.

Espanyol initially denied that they had received a bid for the player and stated that they considered the player "untouchable", but there were also reports that the Barcelona-based club were holding out for a fee of £8m.

Hector Moreno is highly regarded at Espanyol

Hector Moreno has a reputation as an enforcer

Rubin Kazan have tested Espanyol's resolve by making a £6m bid for Hector Moreno

And now Rubin Kazan have tested Espanyol's resolve by making a £6m bid for Moreno, with president Joan Collet confirming that a bid had been received from the Russian club.

Speaking about Rubin Kazan's interest, Moreno's agent, Jan van Baal, said: “We’re ready to initiate negotiations, as soon as the two clubs reach an agreement between themselves.”

Moreno moved to Europe from Pumas in his homeland, joining Holland's AZ Alkmaar in 2007, before making the move to Spain with Espanyol in 2011.

Hector Moreno is a favourite of Javier Aguirre

Moreno quickly became a mainstay at the heart of the Espanyol defense, being voted the club's Player of the Year in his first season, and is a favourite of current coach and fellow Mexican Javier Aguirre.

Cardiff's interest in Moreno may have waned following the arrival of Steven Caulker last week, but it now seems that both they and Swansea will have to compete with the ambitious Russian club, who already feature Liverpool target Salomon Rondon and French international Yann M'Vila, who was once linked with Arsenal, if they remain serious about acquiring Moreno.

Cant see us paying 7 million+ for another CB tbh, seeing as weve already forked out for Caulker. Cant see them paying the money their asking for him either though :ayatollah:

Lot will depend from our point of view if ash goes. If he does then clearly we will spend big if he doesn't then cant see us being interested.

Your tactic last few years is to sell players high and try and buy a cheaper alternative and not weaken the team.

I would expect you to sell, unless Laudrup during his strop demanding he keep the players.

Do you think you will sell any of the ones running their contracts den or looking to go??

I've read those include Williams, Dyer, and Vorm??? As I said above, surely Laudrup won't allow them all but maybe one or two??

Our strategy has been simple to buy quality players and improve them. Some have mobed on for vast profit, some are still with us because we have no debt we can invest in better players each time. For example danny g for bony or sinclair for pablo hernandez. Selling players is unavoidable for every club for a variety of reasons the key is to sell for more than they are worth to you and to buy at the right price. Thing is look at who has left us over the past 5 years and name me one player thats career has gone the right way? Im surr players are starting to see that they may not be making a wise move leaving us

Adam Matthews was with you wasn't he as a kid, he has progressed, but not set the world alight....

Its worked so far because your managers have had good contacts, can you see Williams, Dyer or Vorm going, and are they running their contracts down, bad news if your players are running contracts down to leave???
