First Post - Centre Back Pairing

Sun Aug 04, 2013 2:42 pm

Take it easy on me guys this is my first post!

Looking at the game yesterday, although a true leader Mark Hudson dives in quite a lot (especially this pre-season). I personally feel due to being out so long, he's not back to where he was before his injury. Also Ben Turner is looking the fittest he's been since he's been at the club. With all that said who will Caulker play with? If it's Huds, then Caulker should be captain, the bloke oozes quality. What ever Malky decides they're 3 great CB's. :malky:

I know it's only a friendly but I thought MH looked a little sluggish compared to Turner. If MM is going by pre season form alone then MH will have to play a blinder next Saturday to oust Turner IMO, and of course theres the RHS and LHS of defence issue. :D

I can see Caulker and Turner playing together a lot this season, hopefully the captaincy will go to Bellamy/Taylor instead of Whittingham

Schoolboy error - Mistake in my first post
Should have read
"if it's Turner, Caulker should be captan etc" :laughing5:

The reason for the post was because Malky has been very vocal of Huds being our leader (following huds apologising to fans in a meeting in Rhydfelin last year). I like most are behind Huds but you cant ignore form. Spoke to a couple of other fans about this yesterday and we all came up with different pairings, superb thats football for you.

Caulker and Turner is what I'd see having a positive impact. We still have Hudson and Connolly who can come on as substitutes as well.

I think Malky will try Caulks and Huds first, he loves Hudson it's quite clear that Malky sees a lot of himself in Mark. But I think huds may struggle and I know Malky will be hard line enough to drop him for big-ben. Sad though really as both Ben and Huds deserve a good season after being outstanding last term. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

its a no brainer for me as Hudson doesn't play the left sided central defender role too well. Caulker is head and shoulders above Hudson in terms of class so he would get the right sided slot and left side would be big ben for me unless of course Malky goes out and buys another classy central defender (don't rule this out) :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :malky:

Not seen any pre season games but from last season I would go hudson and caulker. Sounds like hudson has struggled pre season but he was out for a long time at the back end of the season so hopefully hes just rusty. Confident the 3 are good enough though

Balance would suggest Turner and Caulker. There are not that many naturally left footed
Centre Halfs around so in a perfect world, form allowing, you'd play your lefty. Of Course
you would. The ball is in Turners court really, if he keeps his concentration and doesnt go
to sleep on that pitch i think he can prove to be gem this season. Hudson is Malkys favourite
but he will be ruthless if he needs to be

We are still in for Hector Moreno but fighting Rubin Kazan for his signature he would be an amazing signing alongside Caulker

How do you know that? I don't think he's ever played on the left side. Anyway, Hudson can stay on the right side, and Caulker could play on the left! Is that not possible?
