Some Things Never Change - Dave Jones

Sat Aug 03, 2013 11:07 pm

He's started moaning early this season. I liked him as our manager but he's a miserable sod.

Great manager. Deserves a lot more respect from City fans than he gets.

He may have rubbed a few fans up the wrong way, but what he did with the budgets he had was fantastic.

 if you're happy with the rebrand, good for you. Don't expect everyone to feel the same way though.

To be fair to him, after seeing the highlights on the FLS, they were two clear penalties. Both big calls went against them.

Gone past sticking up for him. Never his fault and whilst Malkys football is not as expansive as DJs he puts DJ to shame in the PR department.

Would love him back to be honest. Say what you like about Dave but he had us playing world class as times. He also had poorer players overachieving. He was miserable but with all the crap he went through cant blame him. Jones was exciting. Malky is efficient. I'd rather Jones

I'd rather have the best football we played under Jones, but with Malky as our manager controlling everything else.

He had a big enough budget but decided to blow it on wages! His choice. Very unprofessional manager who I was glad to see the back of.

He did well for the club and took us as far as he could, but he had a very cold approach towards the fans and media. I especially disliked the way he would always play down the derby games as 'just another match' - I always imagined the Swansea players would go into the game far more fired up than ours as a result...

And he used to blame the fans for expecting too much, half the time it went wrong.

Done really well for us, his time was up, he done all he could for us, just couldn't get us over that final hurdle.

Without doubt the most overated deluded one trick pony as a manager I have seen in football. His head is so far up his own arse even he can't see his own mistakes. Deserves all the misery and non-success I can wish on him. :old:

Agreed Malky would be right fecked off if the ref missed two blatant penalties like that in our first game gainst West Ham, on this occasion he was right to be a misserable tw@t, we all would be.....

Fair enough, not a fan then :laughing6:

His best season IMO was his first season where he produced a miracle in keeping us up, considering the financial plight we were in. I remember there being moans about the type of football that was played (which was fair comment) but his first priority was to keep us in Division 1 (as it was then) which he did.

That seemed to set the tone for the rest of his time here and it bore out the repeated comment of 'having too much expectations in these parts' i.e. we should be happy with survival in the Championship and not expect anymore.

The thing is all clubs have expectations and even Barnsley had played in the PL by that time so why couldn't Cardiff City expect to do the same?

DJ was well backed by the club both on and off the pitch, but as mentioned he was a one trick pony and had trouble with taking gambles or changing games when required.

When he left he had already over stayed his welcome and it is such a shame that MM wasn't brought in after the Play Off defeat to Blackpool in 2010.

Yeah, I just watched the League Show and he was spot on. Still has miserable tone though. :D
