I haven't seen the interview but I would guess he talking from the perspective of his sons development. He holds the view that playing under him for one season is just as good as joining a newly promoted team who may face a relegation battle.

I'm not saying PI is right but I could understand where his thinking is coming from.

I think Ince Snr. has been completely one-eyed over his boy. Delusions of grandeur because he once played (and was rejected) by the mighty Liverpool

Smacks of father living his dreams through the son IMHO and I guess we would have been making a double signing, which would explain the money on offer! LOL

I was talking from an assumed Paul Ince perspective. Personally I think that Tom Ince would have been better joining us and learning to stand on his own two feet (if nothing else) rather than be assured of a first team place at Blackpool under Daddy.

However, Paul Ince seems to have a different view and time will be the judge.

Blackpool better than Cardiff eh?
We could have started the season SEVEN games later than them and still finished higher and
our average crowds were not far off double theirs. We have a proper modern football ground
with a state of the art playing surface. We are spending tens of millions on players and are
looking to float the Club on the stock market. They have got donkeys round the corner. End of.

The deluded bitter c**t. Why is he mentioning us all the time? its done now. He's fucked up.
We have moved onwards and upwards, his son will rupture knee ligaments on that f*cking
mud bath and spend his career in the lower leagues, probably become an alcoholic and be
known for getting pissed up and telling anyone who'll listen that he could have been somebody.

I agree but in fairness Paul Ince is just another over protective parent.

I'm sure, mate. I just don't want to hear about Ince Snr's opinions anymore. We've moved on and I hope they both live to regret the opportunity he (Tom) had to show his undoubted talent on the biggest stage :ayatollah:

This could be interesting if true -

Newcastle United want £8m Tom Ince?

Newcastle United are reportedly targeting an £8m move for Blackpool winger Tom Ince.

The England under-21 international rejected a move to Cardiff City earlier this summer, after the clubs agreed a similar fee.

According to the Mirror though, the winger would be more interested in a move to St James' Park.

Magpies boss Alan Pardew wants the club to move quickly though, with Everton also among the 21-year-old's admirers.

Everton would need to sell before sanctioning an £8m fee, although Ince is thought to be aware of the interest and Merseyside would be his preferred option.

Newcastle already have the funds though, and Pardew, who is keen on the youngster, has been told he can spend money.

The Toon have all the hallmarks this season of a team that is going to struggle. Not strengthening enough and an undercurrent of upheaval. Would be a poor move.

The England Under-21 international is expected to leave Bloomfield Road this summer despite turning down a move to Cardiff, but his father and manager is now keen for him to stay

Blackpool manager Paul Ince wants son Tom to remain at the club this summer.

The England Under-21 international rejected a move to Cardiff earlier in July as he would prefer to remain in the north west and avoid uprooting his family and new-born daughter.

Ince recently admitted his father had urged him not to feel held back by their current partnership, but the coach is reluctant to see him leave Bloomfield Road as he continues to work with a threadbare squad.

"It would be nice to keep him, obviously," Paul Ince told Sky Sports after Blackpool’s Capital One Cup exit at the hands of local rivals Preston North End on Monday.

"He's a quality player and there has been plenty of interest for him, but it just shows how thin we were on the ground today.

"We have had to play more or less the same team from Saturday. Two high intensity games - Doncaster away on Saturday and then a derby here. It just shows how light we are on the bench and how light we are strength-wise.

"We didn't really want to play [Michael] Chopra and [Steve] Davies for 90 minutes but we had to keep them on because, attacking-wise, we are short."

As revealed by Goal, Ince is holding out for a return to Liverpool, who reignited their interest in capturing their former Academy graduate last month but have not followed up with a formal bid.

The Merseysiders came close to signing Ince in January but could not agree a fee with Blackpool during what were understood to be heated negotiations with the Championship club.
