The South Korean star will be crucial for Cardiff's hopes this season, according to manager
Kim Bo-Kyung has the Premier League ‘X-factor’ which will be crucial for Cardiff City this season, according to boss Malky Mackay.
Kim has been outstanding for the Bluebirds in pre-season, playing just behind the main striker and showing no signs of jet leg from his commitments with South Korea.
He played three World Cup qualifiers during June, against Iran in Ulsan, Uzbekistan in Seoul and Lebanon in Beirut as they earned a place at next years finals in Brazil.
“Kim has power and a little bit of X-factor,” said Mackay, who has been delighted by the form of his £2m signing from Japanese club Cerezo Osaka a year ago.
“He has played a lot of football over the summer and got through a lot of travelling. We have tried to protect him and he has come through that period.
“Kim reached good levels of performance last season at Championship level and we will be looking for that more and more in the Premier League.”
Tomorrow, against Italians Chievo, Kim is again likely to ink up with Peter Whittingham plus Jordon Mutch.
Kim has scored two goals so far in pre-season, heading City’s second in the match at Brentford this week and netting with a low shot from 20 yards at Cheltenham.
Meanwhile centre-forward Andreas Cornelius, City’s £8m signing from FC Copenhagen, is in contention for tomorrow’s match against Chievo.
He was rested as a precaution when City played Brentford after rolling an ankle in training.
“It’s nothing serious and Andreas will be back playing quickly,” said Mackay.
Midfield player Aron Gunnarsson is making good progress after suffering a dislocated shoulder on international duty with Iceland.
He has been in full training fitness wise throughout pre-season, but had to avoid physical contact until the last week.
Gunnarsson, it seems, is unlikely to figure against Chievo tomorrow, but may be in contention to be involved against Athletic Bilbao next weekend.

Will be interesting to see whether Kimbo plays on the wing or through the middle this term.

has to be through the middle, was nowhere near as effective when out wide.

he will be by far the most consistent player but malky must keep him in the middle not outwide

Will play in the middle as he did 2nd half of last season, he's not really a winger.

Kim Bo is so comfortable on the ball that he wants it all the time. He will become our main
playmaker this season

As soon as he settled last season and started showing his flair and composure it was obvious he was a premier league player.
To be honest I think this is a rhetorical question!

I think he could be, provided we have a good DM in place. Looks like our threat from long throws is out the window for a few months with Gunna's shoulder injury.

Considering we tipped him to be a star player for this season, he is showing it in Pre Season, getting goals and linking up play with strikers.

I predict they will be creaming their pants over him on motd and callin him the korean messi by xmas

When I think of players to sign in the middle, I always pause and think oh yeah we've potentially already got a match winner.

He will be very influential for us this season. Good Times
